If the CD fails to start the installation automatically:

This section of the Quick Start Guide will showyou how to install the Internet Video Security andMonitoring application onto your computer.

Insert the InternetVideo Security and Monitoring application soft-
ware CD into yourcomputer’s CD-Rom drive.
The CD will automatically start the installationprogram. Follow the on-screen prompts.

Although the Video Grabber you purchased may vary, depending on the type of system, all of the hardware components are connectedin the same way. There are various video grabbers available. The unit you have purchased will be one of the following.

Connect the camera plug to theextension cable jack.
Connect the yellow (video) and white (audio)RCA plugs from the camera extension cableto the yellow and white RCA jacks on theback of the video grabber.
Note: Not all DVM systems support theaudio function for all cameras.
The DVM video grabber provides powerfor the wired cameras. Connect the supplied power cable from the videograbber to the extension cable.

Connect the power cordto the video grabber.
Connect the USB cableto the video grabber.
Connect the other end ofthe USB cable to yourcomputer’s USB port.

When the softwaredriver has been
completely installed, amessage will appear ina small pop-up balloon
in the lower right corner of your screen.

TIP
Once you connect the video grabber to the PC, the Windows Plug-and-Play facility automatically initiates the driverinstallation for both video and audio. If your computer is connected to the Internet, Windows will attempt to get the latest driver on-line, otherwise it will take the driver from the CD ROM. This feature not supported by Windows 2000®.

If your host computer is on a pri-vate network behind a router orfirewall, Port Forwarding must beenabled on the router. There aretoo many types of routers for usto provide specific instructions forPort Forwarding on all the variousmakes and models of routers inthe marketplace today. The on-linehelp in the DVM Software pro-vides specific instruction for PortForwarding for some of the morepopular routers in use.
Refer to your router’s manual forspecific instructions on enablingPort Forwarding. Ports 5600 and5700 must have port forwardingenabled for single camera unitsand 5700 through 5703 for quadcamera units for the HostComputer.

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) provides you with either a fixed IP address or a dynamic IP address while yourcomputer is connected to the Internet. Method A explains how to view video remotely using a fixed IP address andMethod B explains how to view video remotely using a dynamic IP address.
While your computeris on the Internet, it is
assigned an IPaddress. Some ISPs
assign a permanent IPaddress that never
changes. This is calleda fixed IP address.

Follow the instructions in FAQ20905: Video Does not Displayto ensure proper application setup.
Surveillance video does not display in Local Surveillance
By default, sound is turned off. Follow the instructions in FAQ20801:Selecting and Setting Audio Devices to change this setting.
No sound plays in Local Surveillance, Recording or Playback.
Follow the instructions in FAQ20910: Receive Feedback error …I get the following error in the Feedback Window: “EitherDirectDraw has not been installed or the Video Card capabilitiesare not suitable. Make sure the display is not in 16 color mode.”
Click simultaneously on the keys ALT + SHIFT + F5.I clicked on Hide Application. How do I show DVM again?
PROBLEM RESOLUTION
Follow the instructions in FAQ20701: Configuring DVM for RemoteSurveillance to ensure proper configuration and setup.
Remote Surveillance does not work.
Verify that the router on your Host Computer hasforwarded all four ports – 5700-5703.
All four cameras are displaying on the Host Computer,but remote surveillance will only show camera #1.
Look for the tutorial entitled ‘Playback Video’ for full instructions.The video I just recorded does not appear inthe Video Playback window
Reset the DVM application as described in FAQ20901:Reset DVM Configuration File
No cameras are listed in the Video Sourcestab of the Local surveillance settings dialog
