VDO RoadLog™ Connect AppQuick Start Guide

Before you start:Before using the VDO RoadLog Connect Key, you must create a Driver profile in your RoadLog Fleet Software for the Driver who will use the Connect Key.

Instructions for creating a Driver are found in the RoadLog User Manual.

The User Manual can be downloaded when you log in to your company account on the RoadLog Portal at:www.vdoroadlog.com/user

VDO RoadLog™ Connect App Quick Start Guide

Activate the VDO RoadLog™ Connect KeyPlug the Connect Key into the computer running the Fleet Software. Export the Driver profile for the Driver who will use the RoadLog Connect Key from the Fleet Software to the RoadLog Connect Key to make it an active Driver Key.

Start the AppThe RoadLog Connect start up screen


Enter your Office E-mail

Tap the

button in the upper right corner of the screen.

NOTE: At this point, the identity of the Driver will display as “Unknown” - the Driver’s name and number will be imported later with the RoadLog data.

NOTE: You can add as many as five different e-mail addresses that will receive data transfers.

Click the “Add e-mail” button in the Office e-mail address line. Enter the e-mail address used at the computer that’s running the RoadLog Fleet Software. Then click OK.


Select the data you’ll want to include in transfers

Tap on each line to check or uncheck “RODS Data Files” and “Support Data Files.” Checked files will be included in the data transfer.



Pair the Connect Key to the Connect app.

Start your RoadLog Connect Key by pressing and holding the button in middle of the key.

On the app, use the back button to return to the data transfer screen.

Tap “Get logs from RoadLog.” The pairing screen will appear.

The blue LED should blink.


Tap the magnifying glass in the upper right corner to pair with the Connect Key.Your Connect key will be visible as “SanDisk” device. Select it.

The app will establish the Wi-Fi connection between your Smart phone and RoadLog Connect Key.

NOTE: If you get a message “Found 0 RoadLog Connect device(s)”, tap the magnifying glass again to rescan.


Export the Driver data to the app.

Return to the data transfer screen.Tap “Get logs from RoadLog.”

The data transfer screen will appear.

E-mail the logs to the office.

Once all the files have transferred, tap “Send logs to the office.”

Select the e-mail accounts you wish to send the data files to. Checked accounts will receive the files.

Select the e-mail service you wish to use.

Add any text you wish to the message, and send the e-mail.

VDO RoadLog™ Connect Key Setup Instructions

The VDO RoadLog Connect Key allows a Driver to automatically log in and log out from the VDO RoadLog ELD and also send log data to their smart phone by WiFi. The log data can then be emailed from the phone to the PC that’s running the VDO RoadLog Fleet Management Software, using the RoadLog Connect smart phone app. The Connect Key can also be used to transfer log data from one RoadLog ELD to another, when a Driver changes vehicles.

Getting started: Before the Connect Key can be used, it must be activated with a Driver’s identity using the RoadLog Fleet Management Software. See the RoadLog Fleet Software User Manual for instructions.Note: The Driver identity assigned to the Connect Key is unique, and the Key should not be used by another Driver.

VDO RoadLog™ Connect Key Setup Instructions

To log into the VDO RoadLog ELD with the activated Connect Key: Start the vehicle and insert the Connect Key into the USB port on the right side of the RoadLog. The RoadLog ELD will start up when the Connect Key is inserted (if it does not start up automatically, press the on/off switch on the bottom of the ELD). The RoadLog ELD will check the data on the Connect Key and update data as required. Proceed with the log in procedure including DVIR (see the RoadLog User Manual for complete instructions). When log in is completed, tap the Finish button in the Submit DVIR screen. The Login Completion screen is displayed. Remove the Connect Key and proceed with daily activities.To transfer Driver data to the Connect Key, the Driver must log out. Insert the Key and tap Logout. Once the transfer is complete, all

Driver logs are on the Connect Key, ready to be sent to the smart phone. Press and hold the WiFi button in the middle of the Connect Key until the blue led is blinking. Next, launch the RoadLog Connect app on your phone to discover the Connect Key. The app will guide you through the process of transfering the logs to your smartphone and the app will then email the logs to your office. When the screen display reads: It is safe to remove the USB key, remove the Connect Key.
