Editorial

The rain has just receded; the milky-white cloud-gondolas have

started plying in the azure blue sky; sometimes the humming

sound of bees near the half-blossomed lotus is being heard; the

coexistence of dryness and moisture in the environment has

induced an intoxicated smell in the soil. All these changes in the

nature indicate the subtle entry of autumn in the cycle of the

seasons. The earth is getting ready in a beautiful fashion to

welcome the Goddess ! Mother is arriving to us !!

Autumn brings a divine joy to all of us, especially to the Bengalis

because this is the time when they spend their quality time with

their beloved mother, Ma Durga. Though Durga Puja is the biggest

festival of Bengalis, whole India celebrates this Puja in a grand

scale.

We, the Bengalis in Bangalore, are living far-away from our

home-land - Bengal - but that cannot really prevent us from

soaking into the joy of Durga Puja during this time of the year.

The Bengali Association for the Residents of Sarjapur and HSR-

layout Area (BARSHA) is organizing a grand Durga Puja

celebration in HSR layout so that the people living in and around

this locality can enjoy every moment of joy without going to the

other puja-mandaps which are far off.

BARSHAs aim is to create an amalgamation of pristine tradition

and the contemporary culture & mannerism. We hope, it will help

us create a homely atmosphere conducive enough for imbibing

this eternal tradition, culture and the values into todays

generation.

Many organizations and individuals have come forward to make

this endeavour a grand success. Publishing this souvenir is a

humble attempt by us to respect those patrons.

BARSHA started its journey with around 15

odd members in December 2014. After that it

organized two Saraswati Pujas, one Kali

Puja and a couple of cultural programmes. All

of those events obtained supports from many

people and now its member count is nearly 100.

BARSHA is thankful to all its members and

well-wishers.

Today BARSHA is celebrating its first ever

Durga Puja in a grand scale. It jumped into

this task relying upon the confidence that the

patrons have shown in the past. I hope, our

belief will not go in vain and we will make

this event a grand success.
