Being in our classrooms, you would feel the energy and the enthusiasm our students have for their learning. With so many opportunities available for our kids, its great to see how they make the most of these. P&C Meeting We will be hosting our schools P&C meeting this Tuesday at 1:45pm for anyone interested. Kathy is currently compiling the Agenda, so if there is anything youd like included, let her know or simply drop a message into the office. Creative Arts Camp Seven of our students have an excellent opportunity next week to participate in and enjoy the North Coast Creative Arts Camp at Lennox Head. These students were fortunate enough to be selected after an application process which saw over 60 students from across the state miss out. We really look forward to hearing how they enjoyed and developed their music and creative arts skills. SRC Mrs Jones has got our Semester 2 SRC (Student Representative Council) program up and running, with the recent meeting formatting lunchtime groups. These groups revolve around student interest, are coordinated by the student leaders and provide extra activities for our students during break time. Well done to these leaders and thank you to Mrs Jones for driving this. Staffing We welcome back Ms Myler next week after some personal leave. In doing this we thank Mrs Field for capably stepping into the teaching role in K/1 and also Miss Valenti for doing so in the 4/5/6 class. Mr Mueller with drums on Mondays, Ms Guthrie-Watts with piano/ keyboard and also vocals on Tuesday, and Mr Hawkins with Guitar/Uke and ensemble on Wednesdays and Thursdays. There are spaces in all of these programs for any students who wish to learn these instruments, just speak with Mrs Ramsden in the Office. Athletics Carnival Today (Friday) saw five of our students travel to Murwillumbah for the District Athletics Carnival. We dont know how they went at this point, but we look forward to hearing their results and are sure they will do the very best they can. Thanks to Ms Kirk for coordinating the travel and participation for our students. Passion Projects Next week will be the last session of Passion Projects for this cycle. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered this cycle, the kids are really loving it! In week 5, following this cycle, we will have the third round of the creative kids program’, where 4/5/6 will travel to Robina for an Apple Store masterclass and K-3 will enjoy Visual Arts workshops here at school. Thank you to Mrs Field for coordinating the Passion Projects again. A big thanks to Annie for coordinating the event and the many parents and families who supported her in doing so. Chicken Coop Our plans for a school chicken coop are coming together nicely. The concrete pad for the coop is being poured next week and the working bee to put it all together is being planned at this upcoming P&C meeting. This is yet another example of our community helping our school, and so many people will contribute, but a special mention so far to Matt Camps and Crofton Needham for their assistance thus far in the project. Thanks also to Annie for overseeing the project. Hopefully everyone has a great weekend and enjoys some quality down-time. Principal’s Report

Week 3 and everyone is whistling while they work! Being in our

classrooms, you would feel the energy and the enthusiasm our

students have for their learning. With so many opportunities

available for our kids, it’s great to see how they make the most of

these.

P&C Meeting

We will be hosting our school’s P&C meeting this Tuesday at

1:45pm for anyone interested. Kathy is currently compiling the

Agenda, so if there is anything you’d like included, let her know or

simply drop a message into the office.

Creative Arts Camp

Seven of our students have an excellent opportunity next week to

Spring Collective

Last weekend saw our Norfolk Island fundraising group

coordinate the ‘Spring Collective’ market day at Casuarina

Hockey fields. There were many and varied stalls available

Office News FLEXISCHOOLS ACCESS

All School Notices, Newsletters, Alerts are now posted on

Flexischools. The Flexischools App has been upgraded

requiring users to register, so you will need to make sure you’ve

got the Flexischools App installed on your phone, if you already

have, stop it and restart the App. When it opens it asks you to

login. If you don’t yet have a login, click ‘register now’ and follow

the prompts. If you are still having any difficulties please either

phone Customer Service on 1300361769 or email

[email protected]. Please do not use Flexibuzz.

EXCURSIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Todd Woodbridge Tennis Cup will be held on Wednesday

21 August, for those students who have expressed an interest,

permission notes will be sent home soon.

Spelling Bee Final is at Bogangar Public School on Tuesday 10 September. Finalists are: Brooklyn Wheeler, Leilani Marshall, Zoe Nixon-Hind, Jasmine Austen.

NORFOLK ISLAND CAMP UPDATE

Payment Reminder - $200 will be due on 9 August

and the final payment of $191 will be due 6 September.

STUDENT AGREEMENT FORMS which were

distributed at the Parent Meeting last Thursday, are to

be completed and returned to the school office as soon

as possible.

School Representative Council (SRC) Initiatives

MILO MONDAY - Students can purchase a cup of Milo and a

biscuit in 1st break on Mondays. Cost will be $1 for Milo or

$2 for Milo and a biscuit. The funds raised will go towards

our school’s Sustainability Program.

OUR NEW SPORTS SHIRTS HAVE ARRIVED!! The cost to parents is $18.50 each.

The P & C are subsidising them for $10.00 each. Once your child has outgrown the shirt they can swap for a 2nd hand larger size for free. Students will be able to wear their sports shirts to

sports activities and to school as part of their uniform.

P & C News

All future P&C Meetings will be held on Tuesdays in Weeks 4 and 8 of each Term.

11, 18 and 25 September Please phone the office if you can assist. STUDENT BANKING DAY CHANGE Students Banking will now be processed by our wonderful volunteer on FRDIAY mornings. Term 3 has two new reward items from the Polar Savers range available to redeem: Artic Fluffy Keyring and Scratch Art Cards.
