Du Plessis Sand started business in 1979 with a single truck. The company developed into a large

fleet consisting mainly of tipper vehicles, flat deck trailers, trailers for medium-sized abnormal loads

and also earthmoving equipment. 

We are a Sand & stone supplier to local construction sector, as well as general transport of a variety

of commodities throughout South Africa and into neighbouring SADC countries. All our vehicles are

registered to transport dangerous goods and we are registered with SARS as an importer and

exporter, as well as bonded cargo.

Based near Sasolburg in the Free State. The company has been a reputable supplier of sand, stone

and other aggregates for almost 40 years. What sets us apart from our competitors is the fact that

we source only the best quality material and all our loads are weighed and supplied with a

weighbridge slip, so that you can assure yourself of the fact that you receive what you paid for.

Our promise - As a result of our exceptional experience in the transport industry, we undertake to fulfil our

obligation towards our customers according to contract specifications.

Du Plessis Sand transports a wide variety of commodities such as coal, fertiliser, cullet, chrome, steel

shavings, etc. The main focus is bulk tippers, flat deck trailers and earth-moving equipment.

As part of our logistic services, dedicated equipment is made available to customers for exclusive

use on particular contracts, for example: vehicles working on a shift basis for certain products, or

bulk tipper for the transport of scrap steel on a dedicated troute to fulfil contract obligations.

Du Plessis Sand further provides an excellent logistic service whereby transport broking as well as

commodity broking is available to further assist clients with the existing transport service.

D R I V E R S E L E C T I O N &

T R A I N I N G

The company follows a strict selection process in the

appointment of drivers, which includes certain minimum

qualifications and experience, testing, as well as background

checks with references and possible offence history.

Upon selection, new drivers are accompanied by a Driver Trainer

for the first few deliveries to ensure a solid grasp of loading and

off-loading procedures.

Du Plessis Sand is currently the only transport company in the

country which has its own TETA registered driver training facility

on their premises. We are justifiably proud to have this in-house

driver training facility where young individuals are recruited from

local communities and over a period of three years they receive

strict, industry specific, theoretical and practical training up to a

NQF level 4.

One of the benefits of having an in-house training facility is that

drivers start their careers trained to uniformed standards and

they are familiar with procedures that are unique to our line of

business. The fact that the facility is accredited by TETA means

that every trainee also receives an official diploma of each NQF

level which has been successfully completed.
