Few Points to Remember• According to the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, a valid Driving license is necessary to drive
any motor vehicle on public roads.
• Driving License is issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Motor Vehicles
Inspector's Office after the recipient has passed a driving test and has proved the
required age.
• The Driving License in India is segregated as Motorcycle License, Light Motor Vehicle
(LMV) license, and Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) License.
• Learner's License is issued after passing a theory test.
• The legislation of Driving License is done through the 'Rules of the Road Regulation'
and the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
• The driver of the vehicle is required to keep the original copy of the license while
driving.

- On LLR test day at RTO office have to submit the all
related documents for LLR license( Residence proof,

- After verifying the documents by RTO officer will take the
photo and thumb impression
- After sign of the RTO officer, computer test will be
conducted ( Out of 20qsn. 16 answer should be correct)
- After exam, result will display in computer system for
pass or fail.
- If result shows the fail, have to book the slot again after
seven days.

- After pass of the LLR computer test, RTO will issue the
LLR license copy in form no.3.

- On Driving test day have to submit all related
documents, payment challan slip with vehicle.
- On Driving test day at RTO office have to submit the
all related documents for Permanent license(
Residence, age proof, medical, educational proof,
Form no. 3, 4 & 5 etc.)
- After verifying the documents by RTO officer will
take the photo and thumb impression again.
- After sign of the RTO officer, physical driving test
will be conducted in Test Track
- If driving test was fail, have to book the slot again
after seven days.
- If Driving test is pass, RTO will issue the
confirmation slip

- RTO will issue the confirmation slip for driving license
after qualifying the driving test.
- Original permanent driving license will come through
post with in 7days.

1. Learner's license

A person holding a driving license for Motor Cycle may similarly apply for
addition of a light motor vehicle at any time.

3.Permanent license
The City of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy Dt, Vijayawada city provides for online
slot- booking to schedule a test of competence at its tracks. Please visit the
website for scheduling an appointment.
Procedure:
• Schedule an appointment for the test of competence online by visiting the
website or any RTO office where such facility exists. In other cases schedule
an appointment directly at the Office Concerned.
• An application in Form 4, for a permanent driving license shall be made along
with the Learners' license obtained for such class of vehicle.
• The applicant who has held a valid Learners' license, for a period of at least
30 days, shall be competent to appear for the test of competence.
• The test of competence will be conducted by the competent authority.
• The applicant should bring a vehicle of the type to which the application
relates.
• The applicant should satisfy the officer conducting the test regarding his
capability to drive the vehicle and his ability to perform the tasks specified in
Rule-15(2) of the CMVR.
• The candidate who passes the test of competence successfully will be issued
with a driving license and sent through speed post to the address furnished.

4. International Driving Permit
International Driving Permit will be issued to an applicant who holds a
valid Indian license and who is a resident of India. The application shall
be made in Form IDP or in writing to the RTO within whose jurisdiction
the applicant resides, specifying the countries to be visited and the
duration of stay etc.

• Copies of Passport, Visa ( where applicable) and Air ticket for
verification.

5. Renewal of License
An application for renewal shall be entertained not more than one month before the
date of expiry of the license. If the application is late for more than five years after
the date of expiry of the license, the applicant should undergo all the formalities to
obtain a fresh license.
If the application for renewal is made previous to, or not more than 30 days after the
date of expiry of the license, the renewal will be made with effect from the date of its
expiry. If the application is made more than 30 days after the date of expiry of the
license, the renewal will be made with effect from the date of receipt of proper
application. In such cases a fee of Rs.30/- will be realized.

6.Duplicate license
A duplicate driving license will be issued in the following
circumstances
• When the license is lost or destroyed
• When the license is defaced or torn or
completely written up
• When the photograph affixed to the license
requires replacement
