Drake- Take Care Case study 3

Front Cover This is the final case study I looked at which is Drake’s old album called ‘Take Care’. The colour theme of Gold and black. The gold represents Drake’s success and his lifestyle being rich and famous, whilst the black connotes the mystery. The overall cover looks almost antique and precious because of the props used in the cover such as the gold wine glass, the gold roman candle and also the statue owl which represent Drake’s very own record label (OVO) this implies that Drake now has his own businesses which will make him more successful. This is one of Drake’s very early albums which kick started his career as why there is gold props used in the image to connotates he’s rich now and can do whatever he likes.

The signature font style in ‘Take Care’ shows the classiness of Drake’s lifestyle as this font is in gold and really allows the audience to be engaged.

Back Cover In this back cover there is a tracklist of what songs there will be in Drake's album this is to allow the consumers to be aware of what the songs are and who are featured in the album. By doing this, many people will be aware of the album due to the features and songs listed so it creates more publicity. Down below the Tracklist there is a brief summary of the different producers of the album because to show them some recognition for their hard work and talent.

Furthermore, there are all the record labels on the back which is again Young Money, Cash Money and Republic records. These logo’s are included for other managers from various record labels to be aware that the artist is already signed so they can not breach their contract.

There is a barcode which allows the album to be purchased in stores. The spine is on the side which has Drake’s album name however there is a unique code written on the side because to show every cd is a different number.

CD Cover This CD cover is rather attractive as it has a black background with gold writing. The colour’s gold and black work together as the gold has a theme of classiness and the black connotates mysteriousness.

There is a copyright logo which is looked by the FBI this is done to show people not to use the music for their own personal use such as selling songs and posting songs on youtube or the internet.

This CD cover is rather minimal as the colours appeals to audience and there is a constant flow between the CD album.

Inspirations

My plan is to go for the black and gold theme so I want the CD to be all black with Drake's name in gold with the 'Too Good' in a different font like a signature. Also i want my front cover to be of Drake looking away from the camera. The back cover will be a list of songs with those featuring in the colour scheme black and gold. The CD cover will be black with grey clouds on top to represent the suspiciousness of the album.
