Book a section of one of our famous spaces for 10-50 of your closest friends/co-workers and host them Drake-style with some sushi or charcuterie to start before rolling out the mini burgers + fancy frites. SKY YARD EAST WALLSHead count: 12-30

Make sure you’re covered rain or shine by snagging yourself a spot under the covered overhang on the rooftop. The perfect mixed of sitting + standing space is great for groups with varying age ranges. Tucked into the corner of the busy bar area gives you a great vantage point to watch the goings’ on for the evening or to study the pros behind the bar as they mix and shake an assortment of Drake cocktails.

SKY YARD DAYBEDSHead count: 12-50

It’s patio season and there’s no better spot to celebrate with your squad than the (non-smoking) Drake Sky Yard! A section of lounge-style seating along the east side of the space known as our Daybeds is the perfect place to hunker down for the night. As this space gets busy, busy, busy in the summer months we do require that all guests arrive for Sky Yard reservations by 9pm to be guaranteed access!

RAISED LOUNGEHead count: 12-45

Kick back in a reserved section of Drake’s famous Lounge over-looking Queen Street West for the evening. Whether you’re in it for the view of the Queen West wildlife or the prime position adjacent to the dance floor we’ve got you covered, literally! The space can be booked in part for groups of 12-20, or as a whole for groups of up to 45 guests.

BOOK IT.Like what you see? Things move quickly at The Drake, so we recommend you book at your earliest convenience to guarantee space. The only thing standing between you and a spectacular event at one of the coolest spots in the city is a contract + deposit. Save time with a formal booking to protect your venue + date from other interested parties! All we require is an initial 50% deposit (half of the minimum spend), and a signed contract and you’re in for a good time!

WHERE TO HOST YOUR PARTY:

LOUNGE COMMUNAL TABLESHead count: 12-60

Available to book Sunday through Thursday, our Communal High top tables in the Lounge offer the perfect ‘home-base’ for a standing cocktail party. With easy access to our main Lounge bar and ample space to perch while noshing, this space is ideally suited to parties anticipating that guests will be dropping in and out throughout the evening. This section is truly in the heart of the action and is not for the faint of heart.

ROOM 222Head count: 12-24

Like what you see, but prefer a little more exclusivity? Room 222 is our private dining space perfect for groups of up to 24 guests for cocktail parties. Start the evening off with some sushi + antipasti before enjoying a couple of waves of passed bites to mark the occasion! Room 222 sits at the edge of the action on the second floor, with a sliding glass door to the Sky Yard for prime people watching on busy evenings. If the Sky Yard is open for regular business on the evening of your booking we encourage you to check out the venue over the course of the night!

WHAT IS A MINIMUM SPEND?

A minimum spend is the financial amount required to reserve space. This amount is met in food and beverage services. The minimum spends are highly dependent on the time of day, day of the week, and season you choose to book. We can work with most budgets, so if you’re flexible, so are we!

HOW MUCH SPACE WILL MY GROUP BE GETTING?

Please refer to images [included above] to see floor layout. We strive to ensure groups are provided with optimal space for each reservation, with optimal flexibility to accommodate fluctuating group sizes.

CAN I SEE THE SPACE IN ADVANCE?

Absolutely. Let us know when you’d like to pop by, and we can let you know if that desired zone is available to view!

ARE WE STUCK IN OUR RESERVED SECTION, OR ARE WE FREE TO WANDER?

As long as you’re not encroaching on the spaces of other group events, you are welcome to wander and every part of the Hotel. Do keep in mind, there many different venues at The Drake Hotel, which are all subject to capacity. We don’t guarantee up + down or in + out privileges, so hang tight until your group is ready to wander!

CAN I BRING IN AN OUTSIDE CAKE?

Gosh, we love mom’s home-made chocolate cake as much as the next person, with that said we bake our own offerings in house and as a result we charge a cutting and plating fee of $2.50 per person for outside product.

I’LL BRING CUPCAKES INSTEAD…

Mmm cupcakes – same rules apply for cupcakes as for cakes. I mean, they’re just smaller cakes no?

THERE ARE MANY GUESTS IN MY GROUP WITHALLERGIES AND DIETARY RESTRICTIONS. CAN YOU GUYS ACCOMMODATE?

Our culinary team strives to accommodate all allergies and dietary restrictions. We would ask that you let us know exactly what these are, and we can give our team enough time to prepare for these restrictions. With that said, as the food we procure comes from outside channels we can never fully guarantee that offerings have not come into contact with contaminants before their final stop at our Drake kitchen.

IS THERE PARKING NEAR BY?

While we do not have parking directly associated with the Drake Hotel, there is street parking on Beaconsfield Avenue and public Green P parking right across the street in the condos on Abell St.

IS THE PROPERTY WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Certain zones within the Drake are wheelchair accessible. Our main floor Lounge is accessible, however, access to the 2nd floor Sky Yard requires the use of our grand stair case and subsequently is not accessible for those with mobility needs, including wheelchairs.

I HAVE FRIENDS JOINING FOR DRINKS AFTER – CAN THEY JOIN US AT OUR TABLE?

As additional guests are more than welcome to join your group, we’re reserving space for those committing to the per person minimum spend! We suggest meeting your guests in the Lounge/Sky Yard after dinner but please be aware that spaces are subject to capacity, we do not allow up and down privileges. On Fridays + Saturdays (and some long weekends) we start charging $10 cover as of 10pm – even the Queen herself is subject to these rules!

CAN MY GUESTS PAY SEPARATELY?

Due to the cocktail-style layout of the space we are not able to track individual guest bills. Should your guests wish to make individual contributions to the master bill we ask that you collect them and pay the bill as a whole. To save time we suggest that you advise guests to bring cash!

WHAT ABOUT TAX + GRATUITY?

All food + beverage and minimum spends that are quoted and listed on our menus are priced before tax and gratuity. For all large groups, we add an 18% gratuity and 13% tax.

IF I BOOKED, AM I SUBJECT TO COVER?

No way. Seeing as you’re our special guest for dinner you (and the members of your reservation) are not going to be asked to pay cover!

HOW FAR IN ADANCE CAN I BOOK MY TABLE?

For non-exclusive reservations, we offer up sections in our spaces ONE MONTH prior the function date. If you’re looking to secure a table now just ask your coordinator if your group is well suited to our Private Room 222 or our quaint Café Bistro for a private booking.

WHAT IF ALL OF MY GUESTS DON’T SHOW UP?

Planning a group event is no easy feat – we get that. With that said, we will have ordered/prepped all the food based on the confirmed count. Let your server know if you’re expecting fewer than confirmed and we can regulate the flow of the passed bites to ensure that we spread them out over the course of the evening.

UGH – I NEED TO CANCEL. WHAT NOW?

To cancel your event without penalty we’ll require a minimum of 2 weeks notice. Any cancellations inside of that window are subject to charging for a portion/whole event to recoup lost monies for product ordered and lost business.

IS THERE A DRESS CODE AT THE DRAKE?

At Drake we consider ourselves to be a come as you are venue and do not enforce a specific dress code. With that said we’d suggest dressing with some personal flair and saving the flip flops, sports jerseys and casual looks for Sunday morning brunch as they may not be suitable for evening service.

CAN WE HAVE DECORATIONS PLEASE?!

As our spaces are fairly curated in art + design we allow for decorations but ask that they be modest to complement our aesthetic. We love balloons too, that’s why we allow you to bring up to 3 for the guest of honor! In addition to balloons we allow for tasteful bud vases with flowers to adorn your table space. Please note that signage, noisemakers and confetti/glitter are prohibited. Get the opinion of your coordinator ahead of time to make sure that your décor falls in line with our requirements to avoid night of disappointment!

WHAT KIND OF ENTERTAINMENT CAN WEEXPECT?

We’re known for our entertainment/live music and have a mix of Music programming + events throughout the week! Take a peek at our website and head over to the Music + Happenings section. Updated weekly, you’ll be able to see where to be + who to see!

DO WE GET A DEAL ON HOTEL ROOMS IF I BOOK AN EVENT?

As we only have 19 rooms in-house we are not able to offer discounts on our boutique inventory. That being said there is a discount on the Owner’s Suite for your special day should you choose to host your wedding with Drake (wink wink)!
