I think that my colour scheme is going particularly well as it is looking very professional and all one tone. I like the parts where I added a blur at an angle. These blurs are on the blue banners and also the slogans banner. Another positive side to my production work is the colours behind the Irn-Bru logo. I like how the white and orange go nicely together behind each other.

There is still something missing for the work but I am not quite sure what it is. However I do think I need to find a more exciting font as the design is looking very plain. Unfortunately I do not like the colour scheme of the Barr logo, but I have to use it and it is not that important. As the logo is quite small I will not bother changing it.

When I am starting my next draft, I am going to consider a new font on my work to see which works better. As there is not much excitement going on in my work, I am going to look for something which is going to attract more people to see and buy the drink. The slogan also is a big if. I am not quite sure that I like it. Therefore I will try think of something new to use. As I created the nutrition table myself, I will try to make it again so that it looks a bit more professional. This is because I am not keen on the squares below the circles showing the percentages. They make it unprofessional and cheap.

When I was beginning to start my second draft, tweaking things to bring my design up to the standards I would like, I had some feedback from tutor Josh. This feedback included – telling me about how I should have changed the way I presented ‘Irn-Bru 32’ as I had it reading ‘32 Irn-Bru’. Josh also advised me to fill more of the banner where the slogan is. I did this by enlarging the text. Finally, the smaller logo had a stroke which was making it hard to read properly. Therefore, I got rid of the stroke and only had the white text on the logo rather than the orange stroke.

When I was looking back at my work after changing it a few times where needed. I realised that there was still something. I saw that the text reading all ingredients included in the drink, was very small and hard to understand. I will now change this so that it is much more easier to read, this will now look more professional as ingredients are important.

To tackle the problem I recently had, with the design looking plain and boring. I thought that I would add a pattern in to see if it changed anything and made it look any better.

For me, I am still undecided whether I like my design with or without this particular pattern. Therefore I asked another student whether they preferred my work with them included, and they think that my work looks better with them to make it more exciting.

I then decided that my Logo did not look very professional. To change this I added a stroke to the letters. However I made sure that the colour I used as the stroke, was the same colour scheme as the rest of the design. Therefore I chose blue.

As I look at the logo, I see that the ’32’ does not look like it is part of the ‘Irn-Bru’ title because it does not have the second coloured text underneath. Therefore I did the same to the ‘32’ but did the opposite colours.

After getting more feedback from tutor Dave, I believe that my design is finally beginning to look good. As Dave thought the background colour was tying in well with any other colours, I saw that it was much better as the blue. As I use the blue, I see nothing changes and I can still view all the information clearly. Also, it was pointed out to me, that when the flat plan will be produced onto a can, the Barr logo will look a bit strange as they will fall in place besides each other. Therefore I moved one into the middle so that when they are on a can, they will be at opposite sides. This may look a bit strange on the flat plan, but hopefully it will look fine once the design has been put onto a can.

I have now decided to change the top panel of the can, to orange as I thought that the whole thing being blue may have looked strange.

I think that all the colours I selected to use in the website banner are very appropriate and all work particularly well.

However I think that this banner looks very plain and simple. This is something I definitely am going to change.

One thing which I could add to my banner to make it more exciting and creative is, some of the ideas I had for the magazine poster. For example, I could include some of the details about the car race into it.

Also, I could add the slogan to the banner to add a little bit more detail.
