Events Eighth Inter Collegiate Sports, Games, Cultural & Literary Meet
Eighth Inter Collegiate Sports, Games, Cultural and Liter-
ary Meet was conducted at College of Horticulture,
Anantharajupeta from 1st to 3rd December, 2018. Smt. M.
Usha Devi, Hon’ble Member, Board of Management, Dr.
YSRHU, Dr. M. Lakashmi Narayana Reddy, Dean of Horti-
culture, Dr. A. Sujatha, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr.
K.Gopal, Controller of Examinations inaugurated the
meet. Students from four constituent colleges as well as
private colleges affiliated to Dr.YSRHU have participated in the
meet. Sri. Chiranjiv Choudhary, IFS, Vice Chancellor (FAC) &
Ex-officio Secretary to Govt of A.P attended valedictory func-
tion and distributed prizes. The individual championships
were won by Mr. Somasekhar and Ms. Jyothi Lakshmi of CoH,
Anantharajupeta. The students of College of Horticulture, An-
antharajupeta won the overall championship for Athletics and
Games for the year 2018-19.

Board of Faculty Meetings
15th Board of Faculty of UG Studies meeting was conducted on
07.12.2018 at University Campus, Venkataramannagudem un-
der the chairmanship of Dr.M. Lakshminarayana Reddy, Dean of
Horticulture. Expert member Dr.V.Patel, Principal Scientist, Divi-
sion of Fruits & Horticultural Technology, IARI, ICAR, New Delhi
and other members of UG Faculty Board gave their valuable in-
puts in the meeting.
15th Board of Faculty of PG Studies meeting was conducted on
07.12.2017 at University Campus, Venkataramannagudem under
the chairmanship of Dr.D.Srihari, Dean of PG Studies. Experts
member Dr.Ravindra Mulge, Dean, CoH, Halladkeri Farm, Bidar,
Dr.A.Manohar Rao, Professor & University Head, CoA, PJTSAU,
Hyderabad and other members of PG Faculty board gave their
valuable inputs in the meeting.
Academic Council Meeting
22nd Academic Council Meeting was conducted on
11.12.2018 at University Campus, Venkataramannagudem
under the chairmanship of Sri Chiranjiv Choudhary, IFS, Vice
-Chancellor, Dr.YSRHU & Ex-Officio Secretary to Government
of A.P. Dr.B.Srinivasulu, Registrar & Member Secretary, Ex-
pert member, Dr.B.Satyanarayana Reddy, Retd. Director of
Education, UHS, Bagalkot, Dr.S.K.Sarkar, Professor & Head
(Fruits) & Former Registrar, BCKV, West Bengal and other members of Academic Council gave their
valuable inputs.
Education
RHWEP Activities
RHWEP students allotted to KVK, Periyavaram visited Waste Decom-
poser Unit on 10.12.2018 in Thalwaypadu Village near Naidupet and
encouraged the farmers about the benefits of the Waste Decomposer
unit. Sri. D.Vinod Naik, Research Associate (Agril. Extn.) coordinated the
programme.
KVK Periyavaram conducted PRA Techniques on 11.12.2018 in Thal-
waypadu Village near Naidupet along with RHWEP students and the
farmers actively participated in this programme. Identification of prob-
lems related to Agriculture, Horticulture and allied subjects by the
farmers themselves is the main objective as a part of Transect Walk In
PRA Technique. Sri. D.Vinod Naik, Research Associate (Agril. Extn.) co-
ordinated the programme.

RHWEP students allotted to KVK, Periyavaram conducted method
demonstration on preparation of bordeaux mixture at Chilamanuru
village of Balayapalli mandal on 14.12.2018 and explained the impor-
tance of Bordeaux mixture in acid lime and methods of application and
precautions to be taken while preparing the mixture to the farmers of
Chilamanuru village. Ms.S.M.Sailaja, Research Associate (Hort.), KVK,
Periyavaram coordinated the programme.
Exposure Visits
Second year B.Sc (Hons) Horticulture students on an exposure visit
to Gandhipuram village, Penumuru mandal, chittoor dist on
05.12.2018. Showed commercial cultivation of chrysanthemum and
marigold under low cost shade net house, mother plant develop-
ment under naturally ventilated poly house and explained about
photoperiodic requirement for the crop, propagation of cuttings
grown in pro-trays under low cost shade net house. Dr. Yohan, TA (Pl. Phy), CoH, Anantharajupeta
also participated in the visit. Dr. M. Raja Naik, Associate Professor (Hort.) and Dr.Yohan, TA (Pl.
Phy.), CoH, Anantharajupeta coordinated the programme.
Extension World Soil Day
At KVK, Vonipenta
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Vonipenta has organized the World Soil
Day on 05.12.2018. Dr.R.V.S.K Reddy, Director of Extension
participated as chief guest and addressed the gathering on
importance of soil health, soil test based fertilizer application
to reduce the cost of cultivation on fertilizers. Sri Madhusud-
han Reddy, Project Director, APMIP, Kadapa emphasized on
the fertigation and importance of drip irrigation system to
minimize the loss of water and fertilizers. Sri K. Prabhakar, Scientist (Agronomy), RARS, Nandyal
participated as expert and explained about the importance of soil testing and usage of bio fertilizers
to enhance crop yields. Soil health cards were distributed to the beneficiary farmers. Dr. M. Rama-
krishna, Officer Incharge, KVK, Vonipenta presided over the programme. PD, ATMA, Kadapa, DPM,
ZBNF, AD Sericulture, ADH, Rajampeta and ADA, Mydukur and 148 members of farmers have par-
ticipated and addressed the farmers.
Research
Smt. B. Neeraja, Scientist (Pl. Path.), D.Rakshith Roshan, Research Associ-
ate (Ento.) and K.Chakkani Priya, Research Associate (Ento.), HRS, Amba-
jipeta visited to Kalavalapalli village of West Godavari district collected
Entomopathogenic fungi infected adults and pupa of rugose spiralling
whitefly after 8th day of spraying on 12.12.2018 and forwarded the sam-
ples to NBAIR, Bengaluru for its confirmation.

At KVK, Venkataramannagudem
KVK, Venkataramannagudem conducted World Soil Day on
05.12.2018. In this program Dr. M.L.N. Reddy, Dean of Horticul-
ture, Dr. D. Srihari, Dean of PG Studies, Dr. A. Sujatha, Dean of
student Affairs, Dr. K. Gopal, Controller of Examinations and Dr.
Gousia Begum, Joint Director of Agriculture attended as guests
of honour. Officers from Agriculture and Horticulture Depart-
ment, 200 farmers participated in the program and expressed their views on importance of soil
health management and also visited the exhibition. Two hundred and fifty soil health cards were
prepared and distributed to the farmers and explained about the soil test based fertiliser applica-
tion for the next season crop.
At KVK, Pandirmamidi
KVK, Pandirimamidi conducted World Soil Day on
05.12.2018. Sri Rammohan Rao, DDH & PD, APMIP, Kakinada
attended as chief guest and inaugurated the stalls arranged by
KVK-Pandirimamidi. PHO, ITDA, APO, Rubber Board, ADO-
CRB, Rampachodavaram addressed the importance of soil
health for sustainable agriculture to the farming community.
Sri P Raja Sekhar, Scientist (SS&AC) delivered guest lecture on
Soil Health-Its Importance in relation to plant growth. Soil health cards were issued to 50 farmers
from KVK adopted villages released one booklet on “Susthira Nela Arogyaniki Bhusaara Pareeksha”.
KVK, Scientists, HO, Rampachodavaram, NGOs and 274 farmers of Rampachodavaram division have
participated.
At KVK, Periyavaram
On 05.12.2018, World Soil Day-2018 organised by KVK Peri-
yavaram, Sri.Kurugondla Rama Krishna, MLA, was the chief
guest. Sri.Chelikam Shankar Reddy, REC Member, Dr.YSRHU,
PD & DPD, ATMA, Dr. B. Govindarajulu, Principal Scientist &
Head, CRS Petluru, ADA Venkatagiri, Srinivasa Seva Trust
Nanda Gopal and Dr. M. Kavitha, Officer In-charge and scien-
tists from KVK Periyavaram have participated. Distribution of
soil health cards, bringing awareness in farmers about soil health management, display of demon-
strations about soil health practices, live demonstration of mini soil testing equipment were carried
out in the presence of officials and farmers.
Training Programmes
KVK, Pandirimamidi organized three days state level training
program on ‘Advances in Cashew Production Technology’ from
03.12.2018 to 05.12.2018 sponsored by RKVY. Dr.
R.V.S.K.Reddy, Director of Extension presided over the inaugu-
ral session and explained the farmers about the importance of
cashew in agency areas. Dr.J.Dilip Babu, Director of Research
attended as chief guest and addressed the farmers on cashew

production practices and suggested the farmers to take up new plantation with Cashew grafts BPP
-8 &9 instead of seedlings. Technical sessions were conducted on Cashew cultivation and nursery
management, Pruning and production technology, IPDM in Cashew, Soil management, Cashew mar-
keting and formation of FPO, Post harvest technology in Cashew by Scientists of Dr.YSRHU.
On 11.12.2018, KVK, Venkataramannagudem conducted one day
training programme for farmers on “Energy and Water conserva-
tion”. In this program Dr. R.V.S.K. Reddy, Director of Extension at-
tended as chief guest and delivered a lecture on energy conservation
aspects and other officers DISCOM AE, Tadepalligudem (Rural), Sri.
Ch. Satyanarayana, APMIP, Sri. P. Balaji, ADH, Eluru, Sri. G. Venkata
sai, Engineer, AP State Energy Conservation Mission. In this program about 150 farmers have par-
ticipated. A brochure on ‘Energy efficiency in agriculture and allied sectors’ was released for distri-
bution to the farmers.
On 11.12.2018, KVK, Venkataramannagudem conducted
valedictory function for 25 days (200 hours) Skill Develop-
ment Training Programme (SDTP) on ‘Small Poultry Farm-
ing’ for rural youth farmers. During this valedictory func-
tion, Sri Chiranjiv Choudhary, IFS, Vice-Chancellor & Ex-
officio Secretary to Govt. of A.P has participated as chief
guest and appreciated KVK scientists and the trainees for
successful completion of the 1st Skill training under ASCI in the university. Dr.B.Srinivasulu, Regis-
trar, Dr.M.L.N.Reddy, Dean of Horticulture, Dr. J.Dilip Babu, Director of Research, Dr.R.V.S.K. Reddy,
Director of Extension, Dr.K.Gopal, Controller of Examination have also participated as guests of
honour and interacted with the farmers. Training manual on “Small Poultry Farming” was released
and distributed certificates and training kit to the participants by the dignitaries.
Twenty five days Skill Development Training Program (SDTP)
on “Beekeeping” to 20 farmers in coordination with Agricul-
tural Skill Council of India (ASCI) and ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad
was initiated at KVK, Venkataramannagudem from 05.12.2018
to 29.12.2018 and coordinated by Dr. E. Karunasree, Principal
Scientist & Head and Sri.G.Shali Raju, Scientist (Ento.). Techni-
cal and practical sessions involving all the aspects of Scientific
Beekeeping and marketing skills to the participants will be imparted by the experts invited from
various institutions of Dr.YSRHU, ANGRAU, CBRTI, Pune, SBEC, Vijayarai, NIRD, Hyderabad and pri-
vate agencies.
From 10.12.2018 to 12.12.2018, KVK, Pandirimamidi organized
3 days training programme on ‘Millets Value Addition Biscuit and
Bakery Products’ to the trainees with the financial support from
Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana. During these 3 days training pro-
gramme demonstrated working mechanism of Biscuit making
unit & nutritive value of millets, preparatory methods of value
added products from millets like Biscuits & Bakery products. In
inaugural session Dr.A.Srinivas, Principal Scientist & Head addressed the trainees about the impor-

tance of millets and millet value added products in the present era which are good for human
health and supporting to the tribal farmers under TSP. Miss Srividya Rani.N, Scientist (Extn.) coor-
dinated the programme. Valedictory session was conducted on 12.12.2018. Certificates were dis-
tributed to the trainees and a pamphlet on ‘Chirudhanyalatho Viluva Adharitha Padharthala Tha-
yari Vidhanam’ was released in the valedictory session.
Front Line Demonstrations
KVK, Periyavaram distributed Arka citrus special to the farmers of
Kondrajupalli village of Balayapalli mandal as a part of FLD on
14.12.2018 and suggested the farmers to spray of Arka citrus spe-
cial @ 75gm + a table spoon of citric acid salt and a shampoo sachet
for every 15l of water to mitigate micronutrient deficiency. Ms.
S.M.Sailaja, Research Associate (Hort.) coordinated the programme.
On 11.12.2018, KVK, Venkataramannagudem supplied sesame seed
Var.YLM - 66 and other critical inputs to the farmers from Gunde-
palli and Ananthapalli villages of Nallajarla mandal under cluster
front Line demonstrations on oilseeds. Sri. G.Shali Raju, Scientist
(Ento.) coordinated the programme.
KVK, Venkataramannagudem conducted training programme on
‘Integrated crop management practices for green gram var. WGG
-42’ on 11.12.2018 to Pandirimamidigudem farmers, Buttai-
gudem mandal under CFLD pulses and distributed critical inputs
neem soap, pongamia soap, profenophos and yellow and blue
sticky traps. Dr. V. Deepthi, Scientist (Agri. Extn.) and Sri. B.
Rupa Devi (SS&AC) have co-ordinated the programme.
Field Day
On 13.12.2018, KVK, Vonipenta organized a field day in black-
gram variety TBG-104 cultivated under CFLD-Pulses under NFSM
- 2018 sponsored by ICAR- ATARI, Zone- X, Hyderabad at Madire-
palli Village of Duvvur mandal. Dr.R.V.S.K.Reddy, Director of Ex-
tension participated as chief guest and addressed the farmers on
importance of pulses in our daily diet, enriches the soil fertility
and also suggested the farmers to store the produce for seed ma-
terial for next season and interacted with the farmers regarding the variety, expenditure and ex-
pected yield. ADA, Mydukur also addressed the farmers.
“Farmers-Departmental Officers – Scientists” Interaction Meeting
On 15.12.2018, KVK, Venkataramannagudem in collaboration
with Department of Horticulture conducted “Farmers-
Department Officers – Scientists” interaction meeting at KVK,
Venkataramannagudem. In this program Dr. J. Dilip babu, Director
of Research, Dr. A. Sujatha, Dean of Student Affairs, Scientists from
PHTRS, HRS and KVK, Venkataramanagudem, Sri. T.V. Subbarao,

DDH, Sri. P. Balaji, ADH, Eluru, Sri. Ch. Satyanarayana, APMIP West Godavari, Horticulture officer,
Tadepalligudem along with MPEOs have participated. Farmers interacted with scientists and got
clarified their doubts on various farming activities. Pests and disease management in coconut,
guava, oil palm, water melon and vegetables were explained by the scientists.

Visits
Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri N. Chandra Babu Naidu visited the stalls
organised by the University in Jnanabheri Programme on
04.12.2018 and appreciated the innovative techniques displayed.
Dr. M. Ramakrishna, Associate Dean, Dr. K. Swarajya Lakshmi, Pro-
fessor (Hort.), Dr. R. Nagaraju, Principal Scientist (Hort.) & Head,
HRS, Anantharajupeta guided and motivated the final year students
of B.Sc., Hons (Hort.), CoH, Anantharajupeta, in participating the
event.
Smt. M. Usha Devi, Member, Board of Management, Dr. YSRHU vis-
ited HRS, Anantharajupeta and Dr. R. Nagaraju, Principal Scientist
(Hort.) & Head, HRS, Anantharajupeta explained about the ongoing
research activities. Smt. T. Nagalakshmi, Scientist (Pl. Path.) ex-
plained about trichoderma production details in the laboratory.
Forty farmers from Odisha state along with three officials from De-
partment of Horticulture, Odisha visited university campus and
KVK on 05.12.2018. Dr. K. Venkata Subbaiah, Scientist (Hort.) took
them around the demonstration units, vegetable plots, and nursery
and explained about the cultivation practices.
One hundred and fifty farmers from Korukonda, Anaparthi and Kadi-
yam mandals visited HRS, Kovvur on 07.12.2018 as a part of their
exposure visit. Dr K.Mamatha, Senior Scientist (Hort.), Dr.R. Naga
Lakshmi, Scientist (Hort.) and M.L.N.Nandini. RA interacted with the
farmers and explained about production technology of banana and
tuber crops.
Fifty farmers from Nellore district under district level training
programme being organized by P.D. ATMA, Nellore district visited
HRS, Ambajipeta on an exposure visit. They were briefed by the
scientists on latest production technologies including intercrops
cultivation in coconut and integrated pest and disease manage-
ment and also quality planting material production in coconut on
01.12.2018.

On 06.12.2018, 150 farmers from Korukonda, Anaparthi, Kadiyam
villages of East Godavari district visited the HRS, Ambajipeta on an
exposure visit. The farmers were explained about the recent tech-
nologies in crop production, pests and disease management practices
in coconut by the concerned scientists.
Japanese team accompanied by Dr.J.Dilip Babu, Director of Re-
search visited Bio-Fertilizer Production Unit, Centre of Excellence
for Protected Cultivation at HRS, Venkataramannagudem and
PHTRS, Venkataramannagudem on 13.12.2018.
Ambedkar Vardanthi
Ambedkar Vardanthi was commemorated at Administrative office, all the constituent colleges, Re-
search Stations and Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Dr.YSRHU on 06.12.2018 and gave floral tributes to
the National leader.

Sri Potti Sreeramulu vardanthi was commemorated at Administrative office, all the constituent col-
leges, Research Stations and Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Dr.YSRHU on 15.12.2018 and Two minutes
silence was maintained in remembrance of his sacrifice.
Workshops
Dr.R.V.S.K.Reddy, Director of Extension participated in ‘1st National
Genetic Congress-2018’ on Genetics for Sustainable Food, Health &
Nutrition Security organised by The Indian society of Genetics &
Plant Breeding, New Delhi at ICAR-IARI, New Delhi from
14.12.2018 to 16.12.2018.
