1. About TECHNOPOLIS '14:
The institute's annual technical fiesta scheduled on 2nd & 3rd April, 2014 marked
the first mega event at the campus of Dr. Jivraj Mehta Institute of Technology.
This event aimed to engage students from engineering institutes to compete in
technical and non technical events, cultivate team spirit, denoting and
developing a healthy competitive environment. A flamboyant dance and drama
program 'SPANDAN '14' concluded the two day extravaganza.
2. Inauguration Ceremony:
The Inaugural function began with Saraswati Vandana & lighting of the lamp in
the hands of Chief guest, Shri H. D. Shrimali, Additional Industry
Commissioner, Gandhinagar,Guest of Honor, Shri. Jagdish I. Patel, President,
GIDC,Vitthal-Udyog nagar, Chairman, CENT, Shri. Narendra Shrimali,
Principal,DJMIT, Prof. Dr. Archana Nanoty, , Prof. Hiten Joshi, Head,
Placement, Promotion & Training Cell, DJMIT and convener of the event.
After the floral welcome of the Guests the brief introductory speech about
DJMIT was delivered by Chairman Shri Narendra Shrimali sir. He appreciated
the sincere efforts made by all to bring the dream of TECHNOPOLIS to reality
and also congratulated the team.
In her address, Principal Prof. Dr. Archana Nanoty appreciated the efforts put in
by all TECHNOPOLIS team members. She elaborated TECHNOPOLIS in true
sense and shared the views and wished TECHNOPOLIS to be a successful event.
After the address of Principal Madam; Chief guest Shri. H. D. Srimali sir shared
his idea about the need of such type of events and discussed that for over all
development of the students a combination of technical skills and arts enhance
their employability.
Guest of Honour, Shri. Jagdish I. Patel focused on the importance of
participation of the students in this mega event and congratulated the whole
team to organize this event.
Prof. Kevin Joshi, Coordinator-TECHNOPOLIS-2014 proposed vote of thanks.
The inaugural session concluded with National Anthem. The whole program was
compeered by HOD Humanities Ms. Kajal B. Rao with Student coordinators of
TECHNOPOLIS-2014.

4. Event Details:
1. Event Name: Sanrachna
Type: Team Event (2 in a team)
Round 1 (Bridge making)
Construction of Bridge Model out of Ice-cream sticks
2 person forms a group
Max 200 nos. of sticks is provided.
Any type of Bridge can be made.
The judging of the prepared model is based on its structural design and
stability.
Round 2 (Bridge Construction Simulator)
The selected participants from Round 1 will contest the final round.
Top 10 participants will appear for this round (qualified in previous
round).
It is a Software Which Provides Materials required in making bridge
The participants will be given 5 stages.
The no of stages (max. completed in given time) will be counted first.
In case of tie between any two participants the time will be considered.
The participant with the least time will be declared as winner.

2. Event Name: Vastu Nirman
Type: Team Event (2 in a team)
Event Outline: This event will be testing their planning and drafting skills.
Round 1:
Finding error in given plan Layout
Three different layout plan with errors will be given to participants
18 participants will go to next level
The selection will be done on basis of accuracy and time
Top 18 participants with highest accuracy in all plan will go to stage 2.
Round 2:
Top 18 participants will appear for this round (qualified in previous
round).
A group of 2 participants made from above on a random base.
Prepare full plan on given full size imperial sheet (make border of 1 cm
from all sides).
Groups will be made of two participants at random basis.
Full size imperial sheet will be provided to 9 groups.
Judging will be done on basis of accuracy, cleanliness, technical skill of
candidate.
Round 3:
Four groups from above qualified students are selected
Max. 3 sheets of thermocol(10mm-2 sheet,20mm-1 sheet) is provided to
each group
Each group has to prepare models from the layout plan which is already
prepared by them in previous stage.
The materials will be provided to participants who includes basic drawing
tools.
3. Event Name: Pie Chakravyuh
Type: Team Event (Team of 2 participants)
Event Outline: This event is aimed at popping out all the information,
knowledge regarding Computer/IT residing in participant.
Round 1: Elimination Round
All teams will have to solve general questions related to Computer/IT
Field.There will be 45 Multiple Choice Questions. The shortlisted teams
will go to second round.
Round 2: Audio-Visual Round
The selected teams from Round 1 will contest the Audio/Visual round. In
this round, the participants have to guess Image/Audio clip/Video clip
related to Computer/IT Field.
Round 3: Final Round
The left over teams of previous round will appear for this round following
the three steps HUNT, SEARCH and PRESENT. The participants have to
hunt for the clues, figure out the topic from those clues, search the
contents regarding it and present it in form of PPT / Chart paper or with
help of white board.
4. Event Name: Web-O-1
Type: Individual Event
Event Outline: WEB-O-HOLICS is aimed to make webpage using HTML, CSS,
Javascript.
This event comprises of a workshop with the competition at the end.
The workshop topics are HTML, CSS, Javascript.
For competition, team will be formed by organizing committee and
scenario will be given to them.
5. Event Name: Mighty Lifter
Type: Group of 4 members
Event Outline: Groups will have to prepare a crane: EOT (Electrically
Operated Transmission) JIB, Pneumatic or Hydraulic.
Round 1
Crane will have to lift the weight& the points will be given on the bases of
quantity of the weight lifted.
Round 2
Groups will have to move the component from 1 place to another & time
for that will be considered.

6. Event Name: AryaMat
Type: Individual Event
Event Outline: MAT Contest is aimed to bring out the MATLAB programming
genius in you.
Round 1
All participants will be given three problem definitions. The objective is to
complete the code in minimum time.
10-12 participants from 1st Round will enter the final round based on time
required for completion of code.
In case of a tie, no. of lines of code in each program will be taken into
account.
Round 2
The selected participants from Round 1 will contest the final round.
Participants will be given 2 problem definitions.
The objective is to complete the code in minimum time. Top 3 participants
of final round, based on time required for completion of code, will be
declared winner.
In case of a tie, no. of lines of code in each program will be taken into
account.
7. Event Name: Dexter Kalam
Type: Group Event (2 members per group)
Event Outline: PLAYTRONICS is aimed to bring out basic knowledge of
electronics by playing with components. The event is being conducted by three
rounds and register in group of two. The students of Electronics, EC, EE,
EEE, CSE and CE are invited to participate.
ROUND 1: WRITTEN TEST (30 Questions in 30 minutes)
Based on electronics fundamental
The questions will be in the MCQ format
15 Groups will be qualified for next round based on score
ROUND 2: CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION (15 Circuits in 15 minutes)
The Circuit diagrams will be provided to Each Groups. They should
indentify and write its name below.
5 Groups will be qualified for final round based on score.
ROUND 3: CIRCUIT DEBUGGING (30 minutes)
The Circuit will be given to each group. The errors will be present in
circuit. You have to identify and correct the errors by using breadboard.
Winner and runner up are decided based on correctness (first) and then
timing.

8. Event Details: Chanakyaniti
Type: Team Event
Event Outline: This event will show the skills in business as well as ability to
handle ups and downs in the real life marketing.
Round 1: Betting for the participants
They will be betting on the participants in the technical events for their earnings
in virtual credits.
Round 2: Shoppers shop
They will have to buy shops for a particular time and profit- loss chart will
indicate their profits and losses adding to their account.
Round 3: Bank
An artificial bank which will have facilities like fixed deposit, loan etc will be
facilitated in this bank.
Round 4: Marketing Products
Each participant would get a product based on virtual money and on return of
original money he would get increased virtual money.
Round 5: Lottery
A luck based winning event which will be decided by picking a chit from a bowl.
Round 6: Live Events
They will participate in “On the spot event” and can win credits by winning.
Round 7: Game Zone
They can play against each other and win the betted credit.
Final Round:
After all the rounds the credit calculated and the team having the maximum
credit will win.
9. Event : Cyber Zone
Type: Team Event
Event Outline: Counter Strike Condition Zero is a gaming for fun and a good
attraction in the event.
Rules:
Each round will be elimination round.
The winning team will head for next round to compete with the winners of
the same round to advance to the finals
The final round would be held as the best of three.

10. Event Name: Tech Snap
Type: Individual
Event Outline: This event is a photography contest.
Glimpse of clicks by various participants
11. Event Name: Yaariyan
Type: Team Event
Event Outline: The event which show the coordination between friends.
Round 1:
Part 1: Aptitude Test
There will be a written test individually between team members.
Part 2: Balloon Busters
One member has to blow the balloon, another one has to tie it, and third one has
to burst it without touching it with hands.
Round 2: Treasure Hunt
One has to find the object from the lots in one room.
Round 3: Super Maze
This round is final round for the participants who will be qualified for this round.
Two members will be blindfolded and third will direct them to the destination.
After round 1 and round 2 there will be WILDCARD entry for those who are
eliminated in round 1 and round 2.

12. Event Name: Accelaracers
Type: Group Event
Event Outline: Accelaracers is a robo race event.
Round 1
Complete the track in the shortest possible time. Elimination will be on the basis
of the time taken to complete track.
Round 2
Race with simple obstacle and landscape variations.
Round 3
Final race will be of higher difficulty level including various obstacles. Winner
will be decided on the bases of the time taken to complete the track and
minimum number of obstacles hit.

13. Event Name: Kurukshetra
Type: Team Event
Event Outline: Robowar: 2 Robots fighting for survival against each other.
Round 1
There will be affending and defending match (Football)
Round 2
The selected participants from Round 1 will contest the second round. 2nd round
will be break down wall or gate.
Round 3
This round is final round for the participants who will be qualified for this round.
In this round qualifies as per war between two robots.

14. Non-Tech Events:
Type: Both single and group events.
WAR OF THE “pens”
Here all participants will be equipped with same pens and a table on which they
will have to play (fight) with pens. The winner of the battle will be awarded.
EKLAVYA
There will be one target provided to the participant at some distance and the
participant will be equipped with Bow and Arrow. His task will be to shoot the
arrow on the target and on the basis of his accuracy on the target he will be
awarded with a chocolate.
Air-Wings
In this event participants will be equipped with different types of obstacles
through which they have to pass a paper plane which they will be building on the
spot with the help of A4 size paper.
“Bucket” Ball
In this event there will be one tub or bucket 75% filled with water and the
participant will have to stand at some distance from the bucket he will be

balls in the tub/bucket and make sure that it floats on the water and does not
fall.
Blind Throw
There will be two participants participating at a single time in which one
participant will be the thrower and the second will be the catcher. The eyes of
the thrower will be covered with the black fold. And the person on the other side
will be provided with the small basket and he will have to catch all the smiley
balls.
Air Force One
In this event there will be 12 to 14 number of paper glass kept upside down and
one balloon will be provided to participant with a time constraint and he will
have to blow off glasses with the help of air pressure filled inside the balloon.

9. Valedictory
The valedictory function was organised on 3rd April at ‘The Garden Stage’. The
chief guest of the function was Mr. Manoj Dakshani, Executive Director, GIDC,
Gndhinagar. The evening started with prayer by the students. The guests were
welcomed with flowers and mementoes. Shri Narendra Shrimali, Chairman,
DJMIT, expressed his joy and congratulated the Team for the first successful
event. Dr. Archana Nanoty, Principal DJMIT, encouraged the students to
participate in more technical events every year at state level. Mr. Manoj
Dakshani, Chairman, GIDC, V.V. Nagar graced the occasion with his esteemed
presence.
The cultural evening comprising of various dance, drama and singing by
students commenced after the prize distribution ceremony. The valedictory
function was coordinated and presented by Prof. Kajal B. Rao and the students
guided by her.
