• Channel Estimation Equalization Vector– The complex reciprocal of each subcarrier in the average

OFDM training symbol. • Erasure Locating

– The magnitudes vector created by the channel estimator is used to determine which Reed Solomon symbols within an RS codeword are likely to be in error. These suspect errors can be removed from the FEC in the receiver thus improving its performance by an order of magnitude.

• Phase Whitening– The signal vector is multiplied times a random phase before

the IFFT in the transmitter which reduces the peak to average ratio requirement. Phase whitening is superior to data scrambling since scrambling only assures that the data does eventually make it through.
