DPP HEADS FOR INTERNATIONAL WOKSHOP ON SEXUAL VIOLENCE
The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Keriako Tobiko is set to
attend an International workshop based on Sexual and Gender Based
Violence Crimes to be held in Kampala, Uganda.
The two day workshop dubbed International Workshop on Conflictrelated Sexual and Gender Based violence Crimes in Light of ICTRs
Experience begins on 30thto 31stJanuary.
Delegates and participants will design a model training program on
three core components namely: to prevent, prosecute and form
partnerships on prosecuting sexual violence crimes.
The workshop will bring together over 100 national and internationalprosecutors, judges, defence lawyers, health professionals victim and
witness advocates, non- governmental organizations, and civil society
groups with a view to collectively design a model training program for the
Great Lakes Region.
DPP, Keriako Tobiko will be among other East African prosecutors
who will put more emphasis on the second component of Prosecution. DPPwill identify practical recommendations aimed at holding accountable those
who commit crimes of sexual violence; restore dignity and justice to the
victims.

Key speakers at the workshop include: Hon. Mike Chibita, Director of
Public prosecution Uganda; Elizabeth Howe, OBE General Counsel,
International Association for Prosecutors and Edward Buoro, Gender
Specialist, Aga khan Foundation Eat Africa.
