DPC CHURCH BREAKFAST!Our next church-wide breakfast will be Sunday,March 4! Breakfast to all will be served at9:30am, in lieu of the normal Sunday School andAdult Christian Education Classes. After breakfast, Bill Nelson will speak —giving us an introduction to himself and hisfamily, and also telling us something of his visionfor his ministry among us as the Director ofFamily Ministries at DPC.

Proverbs 27.17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Men, if we’re not intentionallysharpening one another, that usually means that we're being dulled by the world. There’s not a lot ofmiddle ground when it comes to our souls. That’s why the Iron Men of DPC exists! We need friendship withone another, so that we can keep one another “sharp” through mutual brotherly encouragement, counsel,correction, and challenge.One way the Iron Men of DPC pursue this kind of sharpening is through Men’s Bible Studies. In the Fall ofevery year, we meet together on Tuesday mornings for Bible Study in a large group. In the Spring of everyyear, we meet in small groups that are spread throughout the area and meet throughout the week. Weare currently studying Proverbs in small groups.And Proverbs is a great book for men to discuss together! Because you know what – there are details ofmy character & your character that may be small enough to “escape notice” when we’re studying thethundering of the Law or the broadsides of the Prophets ... and yet, they matter. And they are decisive inwhat kind of life we end up living. This is the arena of the Proverbs. What am I like to live with? To employ?How do I manage myself? My time? My affairs? What kind of habits am I developing? What would wisdomhave to say to me about how I talk? What my aims are? What kind of friend I am? What kind of neighborI am? What I do with my money? How I approach my God?Proverbs gets inside our skin about all of those things & more & points us to the glory that is Christ & the“skill in living well” that is found by those who follow him with all their hearts.But the Iron Men of DPC don’t just study together. We also serve together! For example, a couple ofmonths ago several Iron Men enjoyed some Saturday mornings together doing some house repair andpainting for a family in need.How can you find out what’s going on with the Iron Men of DPC? One good way is to get on the Iron Mene-mail list! Just e-mail debbie@decaturpca.org, and we’ll get you signed up.

One of the major Iron Men moments in the year to come will be the Authentic Iron MenRetreat! It will be March 2 & 3, right here at DPC, with speakers Phil Reddick and Dave Lewis.
