Downloading the VPNClick on “SDS

Configuration Assistant (Required to Establish Service)”

Enter ONID username (the part of your email before the @) and password when prompted.

fields on the next pagemake sure

you select the “roaming between home and campus” option towards the bottom of the page.

Click on through to the next page.

Downloading the VPNDownload the software that fits your

computer.Most of you will download the first link for

Windows.For those of you with Macs or running Linux,

scroll down and download accordingly.

InstallingOpen the .exe file you downloaded, and when

it asks you to unzip, click “unzip!”From here, the installer should open and

start running automatically. Be sure to exit all programs like it ask you to before beginning installation.

When it’s done installing you’ll be prompted to restart your computer. Please restart your computer.

Setting UpFor Windows users, click the Start Menu, go

to “All Programs”, and a “Cisco Systems VPN Client” link that appears.For Mac/Linux users: find the Cisco Systems

VON client program and open it up.

Setting UpYou’ll get to a rectangular screen: this is

what you will always see when logging into the VPN in the future. You need to add connections to connect to go through before you’re able to log in anywhere. To do this, click the “New” icon in the top left corner of the program.

Setting UpWhen the new connection screen appears,

type the following into the following fields:Connection: Off campusHost: sds.oregonstate.eduGroup Name: ORST_VPN3KPassword: NETauth(reenter password in the next field)

There will be blank fields on this screen… Leave them blank! Only fill in the above fields.

Setting UpHit “ok.” Once you hit “okay,” the “Off

Campus” connection will appear in the home rectangular screen.

Next, click “New” again to create one more connection:Connection: On CampusHost: sds.oregonstate.eduGroup Name: VPN_publicPassword: BetterThanWEP(reenter password in the next field)

Finished! One final note:At this point, you’re all set up!! Click one of the

connections (depending on where you’re at when you’re setting all this up) to test things out. You’ll be prompted for your ONID username and password, and if successful, you’ll see a welcome screen afterwards! You’ll also see a yellow padlock in your tray in the bottom left corner of your computer screen – when the padlock is locked, you’re logged into the VPN and able to access our website. When it’s unlocked, you’re not logged into the VPN and need to do so before being able to access our page. When it’s not there period, you don’t have the program running on your computer. Go back to the Start Menu > All Programs > Cisco Systems VPN Client > VPN client to reopen the program and log in from there.
