•Think, "Stay cool. Don't react too fast. Check out your options."
• Take a deep breath.
• Squeeze your hands together into two tight fists, hold for 10 seconds and slowly release.
• Use earplugs and/or eye covers to "chill out" (when not on duty).
• Ask yourself if you fully understand the situation.
• Consider an alternative explanation.
• Try to understand where the other person is coming from.
• Ask yourself if your anger is
helpful or hurtful to you atthis time.
