EDRs is a function and device installed in a motor vehicle to record technical information about the status and operation of vehicle systems for a very brief period of time and in a very limited circumstances before and during a crash.

① EDR corrects vehicle information continously. Those information are briefly stored and constsntly replaced in a recirculating loop lasting constant short time(i.e., about 5 seconds)② At the event the EDR captures the data before and during a crash③ EDR data can be retrieved and analyzed to understand how the vehicle performed at the time of a crash

must be recorded) - Vehicle speed, Engine throttle position, Brake use, Driver safety belt status, airbag warning lamp status, forward Delta-V and Airbag development time, etc. Optional 30 data elements (if recorded) - Acceleration, lateral Delta-V, Engine RPM, Steering input, etc.

Main Contents of sub-legislation ▪ Enforcement Regulation of MVMA : Making the procedure and method of EDR Data to indicated Customer/Driver ▪ KMVSS : Making Detail EDR Performance and format USA(49 CFR Part 563) In August 2006, NHTSA established a Regulation that set forth contents same as Korea EDR Legislation ※ Applied to Vehicle(manufactured on or after September 1, 2012) equipped with EDRs less than a GVWR of 3.85 ton
