Your Wedding Reception

Hiring a wedding band can enliven your reception and make it a truly memorable affair. However, with
so many wedding bands Glasgow, it is understandable if you feel a bit overwhelmed in choosing one.
But, you do not have to be. Here are some things to remember when looking for a band for your wedding.
The first thing you need to do is decide what type of band you wish to hire and begin looking for one as
soon as you know the date and location of the event. Keep in mind though that venues have noise or band
size restrictions, so make sure to ask the venue manager what their rules are when it comes to this. Get
recommendations from friends, especially newlyweds and those who have attended weddings recently.
You may also look online for bands or booking agents. When hiring a band for a wedding, expect to pay
around £ 2,000 to £ 3,500 for a seven-piece band. Tipping is not expected for such service, and is at your
discretion. Compare three to five of them so you can find that fits your needs and budget.
To help you decide, you should listen to tapes, watch videos, or if possible, attend one of their gigs so you
can see the band play first hand. Take note of how they interact with the crowd. For instance, can they
encourage the crowd to dance or command the stage well, or do they simply play without interacting with
the audience. Also look at the types of music they play. The more experienced they are in the genre you
prefer, the better. Make sure to hire a band that has played in weddings before. It will be more convenient

working with such bands because they are already familiar with the flow of events and can even serve as
masters of ceremony.
Tell them your musical preferences and ask for a playlist. It would be great if you can identify before
meeting with them the songs you definitely wished to be played. If the band does not have a preferred
song on their playlist, ask if they can learn it. Once you have a playlist, decide on the order of the songs or
at which times they are supposed to play. A program of the wedding reception will come in very handy
when you are going about these details.
Ask to have agreed upon dates, fees, and other terms in writing. Cancellation and refund policies should
also be included in the contract.
