The Center for Applied Research (CFAR)
Not a technology company in the business of creating IT solutions for colleges and universities
An applied research and evaluation team based out of Charlotte, North Carolina that also creates higher education solutions based on need, particularly for institutional research and effectiveness offices.
Housed at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), the Center is one of the first self-sustaining research centers in the nation to be affiliated with a community college and as such is uniquely situated to offer insight into community college issues.
The Center functions as part of the CPCC Services Corporation, a separate 501(c)3 that serves as the
entrepreneurial arm of the college.
Our Vision
To make colleges self-sufficient and to build the capacity within institutions to do their own work.
It is our belief that once the colleges have effective processes and tools in place, they will develop a culture of evidence within their institutions that will cause cultural changes in the way they do business.
