16 April, 2013
• New body to promote world LC activities, Linear Collider Collaboration (LCC) lead by Lyn Evans, was officially established on 21 February at the ICFA meeting held at TRIUMF.
• Revise, rewrite; finalize and submit to ICFA at LP2013(June 2013). GDE Mandate will be completed, and the LC activities will be fully taken over by LCC .
6 Interactions meeting @IHEP, Beijing
Purpose: LCB is created as a sub-panel of ICFA (International Committee for Future
Accelerators). LCB will promote the construction of an electron-positron linear collider and its
detectors as a world-wide collaboration project. The LCB will be responsible for the science, technology, outreach, and
organization in pursuit linear collider project.
Mission: LCB will 1) establish Linear collider directorate headed by the LC Director2) provide oversight to the LC Directorate (LCD)3) work with Funding Agencies for Large Colliders (FALC)4) set up Project Advisory Committee (PAC)5) monitor the progress of LC activities through the LC Director and PAC Chair, and 6) monitor the outreach of LCD, regional and other groups to the scientific
community, to industry, to government officials, and to the public.
By the way, what is LCB?

8 Interactions meeting @IHEP, Beijing
LCC is the organisation to realize the construction of the Linear Collider. LCC will carry through “post–TDR ILC program: 1) extend energy reach; 2)
systems tests; 3)evolve ILC design based on technology development and LHC results; consider staged design, beginning with Higgs Factory.
prepare CLIC machine and detectors as an option for a future high-energy linear collider at CERN.
further improve collaboration between CLIC and ILC machine experts
move towards a “more normal” structure of collaboration in the detector community to prepare for the construction of two high-performance detectors.
strongly support the Japanese initiative to construct a linear collider as a staged project in Japan.

15 Interactions meeting @IHEP, Beijing
European strategy:
• There is a strong scientific case for an electron-positron collider, complementary to the LHC, that can study the properties of the Higgs boson and other particles with unprecedented precision and whose energy can be upgraded.
• The Technical Design Report of the International Linear Collider (ILC) has been completed, with large European participation.
• The initiative from the Japanese particle physics community to host the ILC in Japan is most welcome, and European groups are eager to participate. Europe looks forward to a proposal from Japan to discuss a possible participation.

16 Interactions meeting @IHEP, Beijing
HEPAP Facilities Subpanel 22 March 2013
• The discovery of the Higgs boson reinforces the strong scientific case for the International Linear Collider (ILC).
• The ILC accelerator and detectors enable a research program that will address questions of very great scientific importance, and both the accelerator and the detectors are absolutely central.
• The initiative from the Japanese particle physics community to host the ILC in Japan is very welcome, and the U.S. particle physics community looks forward to a proposal from Japan to discuss possible participation. technical design report for the accelerator facility was recently completed; the ILC accelerator is technically ready to initiate construction once agreements are reached in Japan and internationally.
• Detailed baseline designs for the detectors have been completed; however, engineering remains before the ILC detectors are ready to initiate construction, and for this reason the readiness classification significant scientific/engineering challenges to resolve before initiating construction is assigned.

20 Interactions meeting @IHEP, Beijing
Lyn’s message to Prime Minister
• A big science project will inspire young students and get them interested in science and technology, create an international center for scientists from around the world, and have long-term economic impact in the region. It was the case with CERN/LHC, and LC will be so, too.
• The will of participation is clear both in Europe and US, and they are waiting for the lead from Japanese government.
• The site selection is clearly an issue, and it needs to be decided on
purely technical points of view.

• KEK received the budget for site study in 2011.• Now site study in both sites are almost completed, and
the report will be submitted to KEK by next month.• The siting committee consist of experts from various fields
will examine each items (bed rock condition, existing city function, infrastructure, condition to accept foreigners…and more).
• Then, they will choose one site, between July and September time frame.
