DAT-MAIL DAT-MAIL version 20.18.02.14
KNOWN ISSUE – Accessing Network Printers via a Service. After much troubleshooting and investigation, the following has been determined when attempting to
access Network Printers to, in most instances, be able to print batch reports or statements from AWAM:
1. Under no circumstances should the AWAM login be a local system account. Local system
accounts cannot print to network printers;
2. Make sure the AWAM login account has these 2 permissions: “Replace a process level token”;
and “Adjust memory quotas for a process”; and
3. For each network printer being used, access the printer’s properties and go to the ‘Security’ tab.
Make sure the AWAM Login account has permission to access the printer. Though this account
should be a member of the admin group, sometimes those group privileges don’t extend to all
network printers.
Testing and investigation continues on this issue. Any pertinent, additional findings will be made available
as they occur.
IMPORTANT Releases starting with 20.18.02.14 and higher support Mail.dat 18-1 files. Users need to be aware; however, that PostalOne! will not accept 18-1 files in PROD until the March 25th
go-live date. CAT users may submit 18-1 files prior to that date for testing.
For current users, DAT-MAIL will continue to
export files in the version of Mail.dat that they
have been using, and can be selected in the
main setup window’s ‘Export’ tab (i.e. File >
Program Settings > Program Setup). If users wish
to export to 18-1, they would need to manually
change that setting on or after the March 25th
date.
New users installing DAT-MAIL for the first time;
however, will see 18-1 as the default export
Mail.dat version and will need to manually
modify the setting to 17-2 for use prior to March
25th.
Clients who have ‘Validate at Export’ enabled or turned on, DAT-MAIL will only allow validation on
the latest version(i.e. 18-1), so 17-1 and 17-2 are not available (‘Export to version’ option will be
grayed out in the ‘Setup’ screen (refer to screen image above).

WHAT’S NEW IN DETAIL

Reducing PostalOne! validation errors. There were instances where DAT-MAIL was populating Permit files with a Payment Authorization Number
(PAN) when the presort files did not contain one. If the permit assigned in a Client’s MPA file included a
PAN (in the DAT-MAIL permit list), the DAT-MAIL was including the PAN once the Client generated a
Mail.dat, even if the original file didn’t contain it. This in turn, was causing PostalOne! validation errors.
We changed the statement generation system to use only the presort data for permit information. In
addition, code was added to prevent confusing EPS account numbers in the MPA PAN field with Pay
Anywhere Account Numbers.
The Lock Manager utility got some necessary improvements. For Clients that have a large processing volume, it was discovered that the browse does not always
finish filling before the automatic refresh occurs (every 10 seconds). Therefore, an option has been
added to the screen to turn off the auto-refresh; as well as, a button that allows the user to manually
fresh the display.
In addition, the ability to tag records by condition was added; specifically, tag by Number of Records
and Job ID. Tagging by Job ID allows you to enter a range of IDs to tag.

DAT-MAIL PREP™ DAT-MAIL Prep version 8.0.6.154
Hassle-free communication is right at your fingertips. We’ve integrated communication between DAT-MAIL Prep and our new Team Support software so that
you can easily submit questions or inquiries to Window Book’s Support Team. This new communication
function automatically opens a support ticket on your behalf, sending much of the information Window
Book needs to be able to respond to you, faster. You can also view and manage your support tickets

18-1 is now supported. DAT-MAIL Prep now supports the IDEAlliance new 18-1 Mail.dat spec, including some newly introduced
transportation files. These new transportation files are described in the latest IDEAlliance Mail.dat spec
(https://www.idealliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/MD_18_1_FS_18.1.0.2.pdf).
We have created tables to accommodate these files that allow us to be able to read and write to them
for viewing and pass-through purposes. No other support is provided for these files at this time.
Tabs for viewing these new transportation files are now provided in DAT-MAIL Prep’s Viewer.
WHAT’S NEW IN DETAIL
10
We updated the Mailer’s Job ID to segment user fields during the merge process. Like DAT-MAIL, DAT-MAIL Prep now updates the SEG-1126 field (i.e. Segment User field) with the mailer’s
Job Number from the HDR file when the option ‘Combine Segments’ is not enabled (is unchecked).
For example, you have two initial Mail.dats and both have HDR-1102 populated. When you merge these
together, the resulting Mail.dat has only one current HDR record, but will have at least two segments
records (the option to combine segments must be off, i.e. unchecked), so the result has segments from
both jobs copied to the new Mail.dat). To identify which original file each segment record came from
(and to remember the old HDR-1102 value from each job), we copy the HDR-1102 value from each job,
to the SEG-1126 records in the resulting Mail.dat file.

Oops – 2018 submissions were displaying at the bottom of the list. We’ve modified the date sort order in the Submissions panel so that the default sort order is descending.
Submissions that occurred in 2018 will now display at the top of the list (see screen image above).

WHAT’S NEW IN DETAIL
15
POSTAL PACKAGE PARTNER PPP version 10.18.01.01
*IMPORTANT* - If you ship to APO/FPO/DPO addresses, this version of PPP has updates to the
new combined Label/Customs form.
IMPORTANT! The USPS has discontinued their customs forms API. PPP's new combined shipping
label/customs form requires a 4” x 6” size shipping label. PPP currently supports only one-up 4” x 6”
thermal labels and four-up legal-size labels sheets for this new label. We plan to add a two-per-page
letter size format in a future PPP release (two 5.5” x 8.5” labels). Neither the old Laser substrates
preprinted customs forms nor the 4” x 5” four-per-page shipping labels can now be used for
APO/FPO/DPO addresses.
*IMPORTANT*! For APO/FPO/DPO shippers: your SSF export format must be set to 2.0. You can check this by going clicking on the ‘File’ menu > ‘System Setup’ > ‘Mailer Configuration’.
Select (click) the ‘Advanced Settings’ tab. Under ‘Advanced Option Name’, scroll to the bottom of the
list and make sure the checkbox next to “Generate the SSF 2.0 format” is checked. If it is unchecked,
check it to make sure you have the right format.
WHAT’S NEW IN DETAIL
16
PPP now populates more reference fields on the combined customs/shipping label. Information such as invoice/order fields, the DIM, the package ID is now available on the combined
customs/shipping label generated by PPP.
WHAT’S NEW IN DETAIL
17
PPP now supports customs label exemptions. “Known mailers are exempt from providing customs documentation on non-dutiable letters and printed
matter weight 16 oz or more, except for Priority Mail Express, which requires a customs form for all contents
and weights.”
PPP now supports this condition, when the ‘Exempt From APO/FPO Customs Forms (Known Mailers)’ is
enabled (checked), but only on Priority Mail and First Class packages.
Note: PPP does not validate what is being shipped or the weight on behalf of the mailer, so the mailer
must take these items into consideration themselves when enabling this option. Unless all of the mailer’s
APO/FPO shipments meet the exemption, they should not be using this option.
More work was done on the combined shipping and customs form label. In response to no longer being able to use the USPS Customs form API to create separate customs forms
for mailers to use with PPP shipping labels (February 23 2018), we created our own combined IMPb
shipping and customs label for APO/FPO shipments. Some implications of this new label are:
▪ Instead of printing a customs form and a shipping label, PPP now prints only one, 4x6 landscape
form. This means mailers can no longer use 4x5 shipping labels – they must use 4x6 stock – and
they must use 4/page 4x6 (or larger) thermal labels;
▪ Mailers no longer have the option to print customs labels to a separate printer as they did in the
past;
▪ Only the exporter’s reference field can be used to enter user-entered reference information;
and
▪ This new label cannot be used for non-APO/FPO mailings! This label format can be used for First
Class and Priority mail. There is a nearly identical 2976-B form for Priority Express (the only
difference is in the indicia area).
WHAT’S NEW IN DETAIL

TAGMASTER TagMaster version 10.18.01.01
18-1 support is here! Support has been added for 18-1 Mail.dat files. This means TagMaster now is able to read Mail.dat files
with all specs.
