Share of Companieswith Male/Female CEOs

Mintigo mined the web and used sophisticated predictive algorithms to gather robust data on millions of companies.

We analyzed thousands of indicators for companies, and

compared the two groups split by gender

Our computer algorithms analyzed CEO names and classified them as male or

female

We looked at CEOs from companies with over 100 employees or over $50

million in revenue

Male CEOs achieve higher revenue per employee in companies with up to 1,000 people. In larger companies female CEOs achieve up to 18% higher revenue per employee than male CEOs.

Overall, 17% of companies have a female CEO. Also, larger companies are more likely to have female CEOs.

DC, West Virginia, New Mexico and Virginia have the highest proportion of

female CEOs, while Utah, Iowa and Wisconsin the lowest.

Darker colors denote higher share of female CEOs

You are more likely to find a female CEO in healthcare and non-profit, while more likely to find men in manufacturing and construction.

Companies with female CEOs are more likely to be in the B2C space, while companies with male CEOs are more likely to be in B2B. On top of that, companies with female CEOs have a stronger

marketing team with more PR, event planning and online presence.
