September’s
Memory Verse
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not
perceive it?
I am making a way in
the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.”

YEARS of
MINISTRY 1990-2020
Proclamation! “Jeff Chaffin Day”
30th Anniversary Celebration September 27th
During Morning Worship
This month we celebrate Bro. Jeff’s 30th year of serving and ministering to our church family. Thirty years of faithful service from a man who so earnestly
seeks to serve the Lord with all his heart, has been a generous gift to FBC. His devoted walk with God continues to be an example and a challenge to each of us.
Will you join us in honoring and celebrating his dedication to our church throughout the month of September by giving a “LOVE OFFERING”.
Our desire is to bless him as he has blessed so many throughout the years!

Interim Pastor’s Corner Glory to God, for He is great and wonderful! He is the light of our soul and the joy of life. How we need to be constantly aware of how God is blessing us as we give him praise and thanks. Everyday is a blessing of God, as He gives us the energy to face all of our trials.
There are many things in this world today that cause us to be anxious, but if we would give it all to our Lord each day, He will take care of us. Then we would begin to realize the awesome blessings of the Lord as we follow the admonition of Proverbs 3 — Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him; and He shall direct your ways. Honor the Lord with your possessions and see the grace of the Lord. Happy is the person who finds wisdom, and the person who gains understanding; For our ways are before the eyes of the Lord. His blessings are fresh and new every day.
Please know that FBC is in my thought and prayers. I know that God has some wonderful blessings and exciting times in store. Just hold on! He has the answer and the blessing that you deserve.
In His Love,
Bro. Scott

Tot Tracts Early Learning Center News by Mrs. Jennifer We are almost one month in to our new school year. With all that is having to be done in our public school system, we have held on to our school agers a few weeks longer. This has caused us to start our school year a tad differently than usual, and we are just now jumping into our Abeka curriculum. We are so excited to be getting into a routine and some form of a structured day.
We have also had some job changes starting the new year. As most of you know, Mrs. Debbie Colburn wasn’t able to return after her battle with kidney cancer. I praise the Lord that she has received a clear report at this time. We have placed Haley Benefield, our former, cook/cleaner/closer, in the position of our 2 Year Old Teacher. We have hired Payton Gilmore as our new cook/cleaner/closer. Both of these ladies are doing a great job in their positions. Currently, our 1 Year Old Teacher, Crimson Reeves, has turned in her notice due to a better job opportunity. We are now seeking a replacement for that position. We know that God always provides, and He will do the same in this as well. Please pray for us as we
choose the exact person God would have us to. As we all know, working in the lives of children must be a calling, not just a job that we do each day.
As too often I fail to do, I want to thank everyone who works to make this ministry possible. My teachers for working so hard at leading and guiding the children, and showing them God’s love. Also, church staff for all that goes on in the business side of things. Thank you ELC Board and Deacons for working so tirelessly to help make the difficult decisions that have to be made. Ground keepers for keeping our facility in tip top shape. Last but not least, thank you most of all for the prayer warriors that keep us lifted up to the Lord as we take on such an important role in the lives of children and families in our community. We can not it make without those prayers. We know when we are prayed for. It is proven in how things go on a daily basis. Again, thank you all so very much.
LET THE SCHOOL YEAR BEGIN!!!!! God Bless You All Richly!
Sincerely, Jennifer Goode-Director/K4 Teacher

Notes from Jeff
We praise the Lord for Holden Guyton’s
decision and wasn’t it a powerful time to
share in his baptism together? How
great to see our church family gather
around that water in our courtyard to
witness and support Holden’s
obedience. I want to give a special
thanks to Jay Buckley for the
suggestion; to the Sulligent Fire
Department in general and Chris
Sizemore specifically for their help with
the dump tank. I also appreciate Matt &
John Thomas Gilmore for meeting the
Fire Department early Sunday morning
to help with the set up. It was so worth it
to share that experience together. It
was also wonderful to have Ms. Bobbie
Hensley “virtually” join our fellowship.
You will enjoy getting to know her
better. It’s a blessing to be able to see
God work and accomplish His purposes
in different ways. Please Lord, continue
to move and work in hearts so that we
may see people’s lives changed and
our church grow!
Another reminder to continue to pray for
our Pastor Search Team! Pray for them
as a group and them as individuals.
And also church family, what about us?
Are you praying for us to be preparing
ourselves for the new pastor? What
does God need to do in us? In me? To
have us ready for this new leadership.
Hopefully we are not just sitting and
waiting for this transition, but we are
allowing God to do the work in us that
needs to be done so that our church
can move into our future.
Your deacons and ministerial staff met
again at the end of August to discuss
the church’s schedule as we continue to
try to move to a more “regular”
schedule. The decision was made to
watch how things progress as school
opens and to meet again in mid
September to explore opening up the
schedule a little more. These are not
easy decisions. There are schools of
thought that you must be careful and
schools of thought that you must move
forward. I believe there is truth on both
sides of thought. But I will tell you I am
thankful to be a part of a church that
has not allowed differences of opinion
to divide or distract us. Please pray for
God’s wisdom. I do believe we are
getting closer to being able to restart
some additional ministries.
Also thank God for the new ministries
we have for our online presence. Bro.
Scott is leading a Wednesday evening
Bible study time called “Wednesdays in
the Word.” And Susan Wilson is
leading a children’s worship time on
Thursday evenings called “It’s My Turn”
these are both wonderful opportunities
for our church to continue to learn, grow
and have a visible presence in our
community.
Can I ask what are you learning? What
is God teaching you in the middle of this
time? Not our church but you,
personally. I pray we are all being
changed more into the likeness of His
Son. That is our prayer any other time
and it should be our pray during this
time. Don’t waste a moment waiting for
later. God wants to work in your heart
and your life right now!
Jeff

complaining (which no one likes to be around) but go to the other extreme, find ways each day to make your situation and your school better. Our Zoom study time begins this month! Watch for text and email reminders and please join us as we finish the book of Ephesians. Hopefully it won’t be too long until we are able to meet together for our study time. We are also working on a way to have a 5th Quarter even in the midst of Covid. Be praying for the pandemic to continue to get better but also for the Lord to lead us into doing things differently but still be effective for His kingdom. I love you guys and I miss getting to spend more time together. But it has made the time I get to see you even more special. Let me know if I can pray for you in any way!
Thanks to the Doug and Rhonda Byars for opening their home for our Splashdown last month. What a great group we had and it was a perfect evening. Corn-hole, swimming, hot dogs and friends; hard to beat that. We hope to have at least one more Splashdown in the next month or so.
Enjoyed sharing a little El Mezcal the Sunday night before school began. I know that your start has probably been unique at best and chaotic at worst, but I pray it’s been ok for you all. I also pray that you are keeping watch about the ways that the Lord is going to be at work this school year. Remember, God does some of His most incredible work in the midst of chaos. So I believe He has incredible work planned for your life, in your life and through your life this year. Be watchful! May I also suggest that you focus on how you can make things better. It will be easy to turn into a complainer because things will be so different. Try to not only avoid the
