———CALENDAR OF THE WEEK———
Dear Parishioners and Visitors,
October, like May, is a month that is especially
dedicated to Mary. Were today not a Sunday, we would be
commemorating the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. To
non-Catholics and many Catholics alike, the rosary is a
mystery in itself. What is the point, many say, of all that
repetition? And yet, when I pray the rosary, it is that very
repetition that calms me when I am anxious and forms a
special communion with God in a way that is deeper than a
quick thirty second prayer. At any rate, it is an enduring
part of our tradition and I do believe that the Most Holy
Rosary has power beyond what we can measure in our
cynical and calculating world. Mary has often urged us to
pray it.
I would like to invite you to join your fellow pa-
rishioners this Tuesday, October 15 at 6:00 at OLGC for a
“Living Rosary” where the recitation of the rosary is some-
thing that we all participate in by each forming a “bead”
and offering a prayer. It is also a great way for young peo-
ple to become more familiar with this uniquely Catholic
form of prayer. So I invite you to pray with us on Tuesday,
with refreshments to follow.
Also coming up this week is our fall Anointing
Mass which will be held this coming Saturday, October 19
at 10:30 am at St. Ambrose. The Anointing of the Sick will
be offered during this Mass where we will be praying for
the alleviation and healing of those who suffer from illness
or any affliction. Please come, even if you yourself are not
ill, simply to pray for and support those members of our
community who are suffering. May God bless you,
Fr. Michael

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Save the Date! Our annual OLGC Memorial Mass to
celebrate the lives of all those who have died in the past
year will take place on Monday, November 4th at 7:00
p.m. in the Church. Each person is mentioned in prayer at
this Mass. If you have suffered the loss of a loved one this
past year and have not received a letter from OLGC in the
mail, please call Lou Alfonsetti at 768-6685 or you can
email at [email protected].
Our Sunday Bulletin is the primary way we communicate
with our parish members. Through arrangement with Litur-
gical Publications, the parish does not pay for the bulletin
printing, which saves us thousands of dollars each year.
Our bulletin is supported through the generosity of the ad-
vertisers, many of whom are our own parish members or
members of our local community. We urge you to support
our advertisers with your patronage.

UE Elementary School Volunteers Needed
This is the 8th year we are asking parishioners to volunteer as
Reading Tutors at AGM, CFJ, TJW & GFJ elementary
schools. Volunteers spend 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours one day a week at
the school of their choice.
There is also a need for Math Tutors to teach basic addi-
tion, subtraction, multiplication & division. Anyone interested
in more info, please call Dick Testa at 754-5492.
RESPECT LIFE! Gov. Cuomo’s “Reproductive Health Act” of
2019 has legalized late-term abortions of fully-formed infants in
the womb, expanded the pool of practitioners who can perform
abortions, and has removed legal protections for babies who sur-
vive abortion. As Catholic Christians we need to voice our
protest of this legislation. At the entrances of the church are let-
ters to send to Gov. Cuomo to express our opposition to abortion.
Please take one home, sign it, and mail it in to the address on the
letter; if you prefer, you can drop it off at the rectory or place in
the collection basket, and we will mail all letters together.

St Luke the Evangelist
Feast Day
On October 18, Catholics and other Christians around the
world will celebrate the feast of St. Luke, the physician and
companion of St. Paul whose gospel preserved the most
extensive biography of Jesus Christ. St. Luke wrote a
greater volume of the New Testament than any other single
author, including the earliest history of the Church. Ancient
traditions also acknowledge Luke as the founder of Chris-
tian iconography, making him a patron of artists as well as
doctors and other medical caregivers.

Most Wonderful St. Luke
You were animated by

In Faithfully detailing
The humanity of Jesus,
You also showed His Divinity
And His genuine compassion

May the Holy Spirit,

Help me to understand Christ’s words
And faithfully apply them
In my life.

Everyone needs “A Round Tuit.” The lep-

caught up in our own interests and fail to appreciate what we
have or to say what is in our hearts. This week get yourself
“A Round Tuit.”
