Our family consists of 4 very silly people, Angel (Dad), Sonia (Mom), Remmy (Biliary Atresia Warrior) who’s 4 years old, and Miah (Little Sister aka Princess) who’s 3 years old. We are the Martinez family!
When our son Remmy was 9 weeks old he was diagnosed with a rare liver disease called Biliary Atresia. We were told they scheduled a surgery to help him until he became sick enough to need a liver transplant. So off we went, headed to Primary Children’s Hospital. This was all completely new to us, new parents, new state, new medical terms, all of it, Luckily, we spoke to his new Social Worker and she referred us to the Ronald McDonald House.
Our stay at the hospital was about 2 almost 3 months. Thankfully our Remmy recovered and we were able to head back home. Our new normal was very hard to get used to, especially having to travel back and forth to a different state. The only thing in our lives that was consistent and still is almost 5 years later, The Ronald McDonald House. They’re family, they’ve been there THROUGH. IT. ALL. and that’s not an exaggeration. They’ve been there with us through our son’s rejection episode, his never ending checkups, and his liver transplant (2 years ago).
We would just like to thank everyone that makes the RMHC possible. You have no idea how much you’re impacting families like ours during our hardest times. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your family as much as you are ours, our lives are better because of you! We love you Ronald McDonald House Charities!!!!!

Katie and I started coming here about 3 years ago. Katie has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, is G-tube fed and has significant developmental and physical disabilities. We live about 3 ½ hours away and we come to Salt Lake City for appointments and therapies at least once a month. When we come we stay at Ronald McDonald House.
We have been coming for so long that it feels like our second home and our extended family. It’s an amazing place to be. I honestly don’t know what we would do without this place.
Katie’s favorite thing to do is to lay on the big green couch and see her favorite people. The staff here are like family and she lights up with each visit.
We have celebrated holidays and birthdays here, made life-long friends here and we genuinely look forward to coming “home” at the end of long hospital days. We love you all so much and appreciate everything you do for us!

Our 17-year old daughter tried to commit suicide 2 years ago and she was admitted in-patient at “UNI” in Salt Lake City. We live over 300 miles away. Before I knew what the Ronald McDonald House was, I (Mom) was prepared to sleep in my car and drive back and forth to make sure she could get the care that she needed.
Thankfully, we learned about the Ronald McDonald House from our social worker. We needed to be able to do family therapy and be there for her during this rough time. Being able to come to the Ronald McDonald House was really a life-saver for us. I truly believe that it helped in her therapy and helped her overcome what she was going through to have family be right here.
Three of our children receive services at Primary Children’s Hospital and the University of Utah and we now come every month for a week and use every part of the House. The Family Room is fantastic. You get to meet other families and it helps put things into perspective. As a Mom it is nice to be reminded that my kids aren’t the only ones who are going through these difficult things. It’s a community here at the House and Family Room. You gain life-long friends. It is loving and caring and you feel that from the moment you walk through the door.
This is our home-away-from-home. We feel comfortable here. I can’t even put into words the experiences we have here. We feel loved. Everyone is supportive and it helps make us feel very comfortable. It helps us face the challenges we are facing.

My daughter Angela, age 13, suffers from a low immune system among other things. We had heard of Ronald McDonald House since Angela was born because of her issues.
I was so grateful to hear that we could stay at the Ronald McDonald House while going to appointments. We are from Vernal so it’s a 3-hour drive and it made a difference to have the Ronald McDonald House around for our appointments. Sometimes, we’d stay there for a month - appointments after appointments. It took a lot out of us but the Ronald McDonald team made it so that we were comfortable and happy. When we walked into Ronald McDonald House everyone was so helpful and so kind to us.
I will never forget how much they did for us. While staying there we had volunteers bringing food, there were a lot of activities most evenings from volunteers. My youngest was very happy they had a playroom, a family room, a game room, and a theater room! I was happy to know they had a washer and dryer facility so I was able to wash clothes.
If we needed anything the team was always there! We had made friends while staying there and still have them to this day. I would say the team is so amazing, so strong and has hearts of gold.
Bless the Ronald McDonald teams and volunteers; they make the foundation! Me & my girls are very thankful and are truly blessed to be a part of Ronald McDonald House.

It could be you! Individuals that make gifts of $1,000 or greater during Helping Hands automatically become part of our Grand Giver program.
The Cornerstones of Love
Grand Givers are undoubtedly the Cornerstones of Love for the thousands of families we serve each year. Grand Giver Appreciation Dinner at La Caille
Grand Givers are invited for fine wine and great cuisine at an exclusive Cornerstones of Love Grand Givers Toast and Appreciation Dinner on October 29, 2020 at La Caille. “Before the whole Covid-19 event, we felt so lucky to have found the Ronald McDonald House because my daughter had a big surgery that
was life-changing and the recovery is really long. If it wasn’t for the Ronald McDonald House we would have to delay the surgery because we would
not have any place to stay.”

It takes special people to work on a gala committee. Many hours and miles are spent gathering donations, not to mention the time planning and organizing the details that come together to create a successful, fun and fabulous event. We would especially like to thank the committee this year due to all the uncertainty and programmatic changes that took place to create a virtual gala in less than a month. Thank you for your dedication, creativity and flexibility. We could not have done it without you all!

This Summer, the Ronald McDonald House will open “The Park That Love Built by O.C. Tanner for Ronald McDonald House Charities”. This lovely private backyard park adjacent to the Ronald McDonald House will be available for pediatric patient guest families and their children to run, relax, play, heal and spend time together outdoors. Not only will it be a beautiful outdoor area, it also allows Ronald McDonald House Charities to expand our programming. Studies have shown that exposure to nature reduces stress and contributes to a child’s overall well-being. We not only continue to serve record-breaking numbers of families – we will also be serving them better! But we can’t do it alone.
Now is the time for you to join us as we complete this whimsical and engaging new backyard greenspace by adopting your very own critter that will call our park its home! Adoption is easy! Simply select from a variety of animals and donation levels, give your critter a name and look for its new home in our park where it will live on forever, delighting future guests. It’s the perfect way to memorialize or honor a loved one or establish a legacy of love for future generations to enjoy! Adopt-A-Critter today, animals and spaces are limited! “Adoption Fees” aka donation levels – only one of each available:
$10,000 – Large Critter Beaver Fox
$5,000 – Medium Critter Raccoon Brother Rabbit Mamma Duck Papa Duck
$2,500 – Small Critter Sparrow Squirrel Butterfly Snail Frog
Please help us to fill our park with love so that we can make it a magical place for pediatric patient families! For more information and to secure your critter, please contact Vickie Moschetti at 801-363-4663 or [email protected].

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of the Intermountain Area (RMHC) surrounds families with the support they need to be near and care for their seriously ill or injured children. We provide a home-away-from-home to ease daily burdens and empower families of hospitalized children with meaningful experiences and quality time together.
Once again, RMHC has achieved Charity Navigator’s highest Four-Star Rating. This rating is based on dozens of metrics related to financial health, accountability and transparency. To earn 4 stars means that RMHC exceeds industry standards and outperforms most charities in our Cause.
Additionally, RMHC was recognized by Business.org as the best charity to donate to in Utah.
We work every day to be worthy of your investment and trust, and once again, we have cause to celebrate!
Thank you for believing in us. It is because of you that we are able to fulfill our mission of providing a home-away-from-home for our pediatric patient families.
