Ride for the Hills Victorian Motorcycle Community
About this book
Within 24hrs of the fire devastation that took place on Black Saturday, a coalition of independent riders and associations was formed in response to calls from within the motorcycle community. This group began organizing a fundraising ride expected to rival the annual Toy Run which usually attracts up to 15,000 riders.

The Concept
These are the areas we go to ride, whether on road or off-road.
Part of the enjoyment we get comes from their natural beauty, and
from the people who live and work in those areas.
The bushfires have seen those people and the bush they live in
badly affected. Many of those are or have been motorcyclists.
As motorcyclists, we extend our sympathies to everyone affected.
We also owe a huge debt to Emergency Services workers- the Fire
Fighters, the Police, the Ambulance Officers, SES volunteers, DSE
workers and to local Councils. !All have given generously.

The next step involved rallying support from riders.
Since then, the response has been phenomenal with endorsement
being received from the MRA, Australia's largest motorcycle
organization the Ulysses Club, various industry groups, Netrider
(Australia's largest motorcycle web site) and!Club Y, as well as !many
other associations, clubs !and individuals who have volunteered their
support.
Many other groups have since followed offering their support.

Motorcycle Riders love to rally for a cause. They do it best by
joining together in a huge ride - this is how they do it.

How can you make a contribution?
Riders across Australia are encouraged to tell as many of their
friends as the can about the Ride for the Hills.
This is an event for the entire Australian Motorcycle Community
to show what contribution it can make.
Many riders will, because of sheer distance or otherwise, be unable
to attend the Ride for the Hills. But, this should not stop them
from registering their donation via the Registration form to be
found at www.rideforthehills.org.au
Every $20.00 donated equals one rider attending - Present or Not.
