Adapting chair massage for hospice &cancer care

15th & 16th May 2004 and 4th & 5th December2004

Content: This 2-day course includes familiarisa-tion with the use of the chair, a menu of massagetechniques using the structural, emotional andenergetic model (SEE) of bodywork contracting,and an opportunity to practice and adapttreatments.

Adapting head massage for hospice &cancer care

18th & 19th September 2004Content: Experienced practitioners of Indian,

Chinese and Energetic Head Massage will facilitatethis 2-day course. The course will examine safe andbeneficial approaches to working with patients in avariety of healthcare settings, including palliativecare.

The weekend will be very practical and is aimedat equipping qualified complementary therapist toadapt and develop their skills in head massage.

Adapting creative visualisation forindividual & group work

23rd & 24th October 2004Content: Creative imagery is rapidly becoming

recognised as a valuable tool for use in palliative

care to help reduce stress, tension, anxiety, fearand pain. During this workshop, you will developyour understanding of the relaxation process,increase your confidence and develop your reper-toire of possibilities. You will be able to try out thetechniques in a one to one situation, and learnabout the pleasures and pitfalls of working withgroups.

Advances in creative imagery: lifting thespirits

techniques for overcoming phobia and reframing,the use, power & potential of language, anchoringtechniques and cues, individualised imagery andthe use of stories & metaphors. Participants willalso examine ways of mobilising inner resources/self esteem and moving blocks with the aim oflifting the spirit
