Parent Information Evening Thanks to those of you who came along to the parent information evening on Tuesday to find out what was
happening in your child’s classroom. We appreciate the effort made to get there.
Golden Bay Schools’ Swimming Sports The Golden Bay Primary Schools’ Swimming Sports for those 7 -11yr olds, who can swim a length of the High
School pool, will be held on Friday March 11. This is also the postponement day for the High School Swimming
Sports. If the High School Swimming Sports set down for the 4 March are postponed, then our sports will be
held on Friday 18 March.
Board of Trustee Elections
This year throughout New Zealand, Board of Trustee elections will
be held. Our election day will be Wednesday 18 May.
The Board is made up of five parent elected representatives, one
staff representative and the Principal. We generally meet once a
month.
We are looking for an enthusiastic group of parents to help with
setting a vision for our school so that Motupipi continues to be a
place where you want to send your children.
We will be holding an information evening on Tuesday 22 March
for those who are interested or want to find out more about what
becoming a Board member involves or how much time it takes.
In the meantime please feel free to contact one of the current
Board members and have a chat about their experience as a Board
member, or go to the Trustees Election Homepage
www.trustee-election.co.nz for a short video.
If you know of a parent who you think would make a good Board
member please ask them to consider it.

Sunhats Last year the Board of Trustees, due to health and safe-ty concerns over the high rates of skin cancer, made a decision that only Cancer Society recommended hats were to be worn at school. Baseball caps and sun visors were not recommended as they leave the ears, side of the face and back of the neck exposed, all of which are common areas of skin cancer. At our last Board meeting we decided to put the responsibility back onto parents as it was taking a lot of staff time policing it and children continued to arrive with baseball hats, which they were wearing at home.
As a parent it will be your responsibility to choose
your child’s sunhat.
Those without hats are required to play under the
shade trees.
Technology Plan The Ministry of Education is subsidizing 80% of the cost to upgrade our school’s data cabling, switches and
cabinets so that we can make full use of ultra-fast broadband and to maximise teaching and learning
opportunities.
Jodie is currently getting quotes to upgrade some of our technology equipment, such as i-pads, chromebooks and
class TV screens. We hope this will be up and running before the end of term.
The fundraising committee has also allocated funds to help us out, which we are appreciative of.
