Pastor’s Column Special thanks to our Fellowship Team who did a great job with our Fellowship Meal on Sunday! Also, we appreciate our deacons who faithfully serve the Lord's Supper to our church family. We are blessed to have many great servants in our church. Also, thank you to all who helped make Sunday a special day for Ralph and Cynthia. We are certainly thankful for Ralph and Cynthia's faithful service these past ten years! Don't forget that we need volunteers for this year's Fall Fest. If you are willing to volunteer, let us know in the church office. Also, our church is a drop-off location for Operation Christmas Child. We need some volunteers to help with this responsibility during November. If you are willing, contact the office or Suzie Carroll who is coordinating OCC efforts in our area. Finally, thank you for giving faithfully to our Reach Texas offering. We have nearly reached our goal. We lack about $200. I'm grateful for your continual generosity! Hope to see you Sunday as we continue our study through the book of James. - Bro. Lonnie VOLUME 35. First Baptist Church

October ended on a very sad note. Our church family lost two longtime members. Margaret Raine went to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 21. She joined FBC in 1978 and served faithfully in many areas, but her greatest love was teaching the children. She passed on her faith in God to her family and many others who grew up in this church.

Marie Horner passed away on Tuesday, October 22. She moved her letter to FBC in 1946. Marie’s family moved her closer to them several years ago, but she never moved her membership. As many of you know, Marie is the last of the Horner family that were so active in our church for many years.

BEGINS: November 18 DEADLINE: December 9

Through Prison Fellowship Ministries, we are able to reach out to children in our c o m m u n i t y w h o h a v e a p a r e n t incarcerated in prison. Our members can help them have a Christmas they might not have otherwise. A tree will be placed in the foyer on November 18 with Angel Tags attached to it. The tags have a child’s information and gift suggestion. You can pick as many tags as you wish. Each gift should be $15 to $20, wrapped or placed in a gift bag. Attach the tag to the gift and return by December 9.

Pack a Shoebox Deadline: November 18

Give a child the joy of Christmas and the opportunity to hear the gospel. Fill a shoebox with toys, crayons, coloring books, and more, put a $9 shipping donation in the box, and bring it to the church no later than Sunday, November 18. We will dedicate the boxes in the morning service. Look in the brochure you received at church for packing ideas.

Dear Church Family,

We just want to thank you for the calls, cards, and especially the prayers that have been lifted on our behalf during John’s surgery and rehab. He is getting better day-by-day! You are all such a blessing!

Thank you, John and Suzie Carroll

Yes, it is time to begin thinking of putting poinsettias in the church! I can’t believe it either.

Beginning December 2, poinsettias can be placed in the Sanctuary in “honor” or “memory” of a loved one. Bring your poinsettia to the church or have it delivered, and let us know what message to print in the bulletin. We ask that the flowers stay during December and be taken home after December 25. Deliveries can be made Monday through Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm (except the noon hour) or Fridays 8 am to 12:00 pm.

The community is invited to the First U n i t e d M e t h o d i s t C h u r c h f o r a Thanksgiving worship service. This will take the place of our evening Bible study. Everyone is encouraged to join this time of thanksgiving, praise, and fellowship. There will be coffee and dessert in Weston Hall after the service.

Dear Church Family,

Words cannot express the gratitude my family and I have to the Lord and our church family. To the Lord for bringing us to Uvalde in 2008 and to our church family for being supportive and loving since we have been here. Thank you for your prayers, kind words, and gifts.

God Bless, The Huerta Family
