jumped out to an early 16-0lead in the Area round gameagainst Electra, and held offa charge to win 44-26.

The Tigers cut the lead to 3in the third quarter after twoturnovers by the Longhorns,but the Longhorns respondedand put the game out of reachby scoring three consecutivetimes.

The Longhorns advance tothe Regional game to beplayed in Abilene on Fridayat 1 pm against Windthorst.The game will be played atShotwell stadium.

Highlights1st Quarter

Creed Coalson scores on a72 yard run. Adrian Padillamade the first of six PATkicks and the Horns led 7-0.On the ensuing possession,Electra fumbled and VaughnStilley recovered the ball forthe Horns. Ty Lee scam-pered eleven yards on a boot-leg pass play to get the TD.Horns lead 14-0.2nd Quarter

T h e L o n g h o r n o f fensestruggled with consistency inthe second quarter, but theLonghorns defense got morepoints on the board. After a

good punt by Coalson to closeout the first quarter, thedefense had the Elec t raoffense pinned back insidetheir ten yard line. CodyMartin sacked the QB in theend zone for a 2 point safetyand the Horns led 16-0.Electra scored late in thequarter to cut the lead to 16-6and were driving again as thequarter ended. The final playof the half ended with a passto the endzone that wasknocked down by Coalson.3rd Quarter

The Longhorns scoredquickly to begin the secondhalf. Coalson broke loose fora twenty six yard run to movethe ball into Tiger territoryand two plays later bustedanother 26 yard run for theTD and the Horns led 23-6.The Longhorn defense causedanother Electra turnover asEthan Sedden recovered afumble. On the ensuing playfor the Horns, the Tigersintercepted a pass and onthird down of their possessionscored on a 39 yard pass playto cut the lead to 23-12 asthe try for two points was nogood. After a good return bythe Horns Jordan Baumann,t h e Tigers recovered aLonghorn fumble and withthe momentum, and just aminute after their last score,the QB connected on a 58yard pass and following thetwo conversion the lead wasnow cut to 23-20. TheLonghorns would take themomentum away on the firstp lay a f t e r the k ick asBaumann broke for a 72 yardrun that got the lead back upto ten 30-20.4th Quarter

The Longhorns put thegame away in the 4th quarteras Coalson broke loose for a46 yard TD run after takingthe option pitch from Ty Lee.The Horns led 37-20. On theTige r s nex t pos se s s ion ,Nathan McGinnis interceptedthe bal l and set up theLonghorns on the Tiger sideof the field. Coalson cappedoff six play drive from thethree and the Horns led 44-

20. The Tigers would con-tinue to fight and on the sec-ond play, the QB broke for a76 yard run to the Longhorns4 yard line. Up to that pointhe had been held to (-13)yards but Longhorns BeauGrigg and Ethan Sedden gavechase and Ethan corralledhim before the score. TheTigers would cut the lead to44-26 two plays later and fol-lowing the onside kick thatwent out of bounds beforecovering the ten yards, theHorns kneeled the ball forthe victory.

4th grade to holddinner December 4The 4th grade at Bronte

Elementary will have a HEBCamp Luncheon Sunday,December 4, from 11 am to1:30 pm. Plates may be pur-chased in front of the BronteSchool.

Each plate will consist ofpork loin, sausage, potatosalad, beans, and a slice ofbread.

The 4th grade is raisingmoney to attend HEB Campin May. HEB Camp is anoutdoor education programthat is located in the HillCountry. There, the studentswill participate in archery,canoeing, bird watching, gunsafety, archeology, wate rresources, fishing, etc.

Air Force Presentation! Staff Sergeant Allen of the UnitedStates Air Force spoke with the senior students at Bronte HighSchool about the opportunities the USAF offers. He discussedbasic training, college tuition assistance, careers in the AF,benefits, advancement opportunities and the GI Bill, in addi-tion to other topics. Welding Presentation! Mr. Bobby Garza recently came toBronte High School to talk to students in one of Mr. Sellers’agriculture classes about the Tulsa Welding School in Tulsa,Oklahoma. Mr. Garza talked to the students about the impor-tance of obtaining some sort of higher education beyond highschool and about the welding industry in addition to the differ-ent programs the Tulsa Welding School offers and job outlooksfor the field of welding.
