HEARD…this belief that they are bet-ter than the rest seems to be very conta-gious.

One particular guy has absolutelynothing good for the rest of his col-leagues, in the music scene, except for hisband, and his female vocalist.

In his opinion, they are the best, andstreets ahead of the rest.

And he goes into detail to run down therest!

We have hadquite a fewreunion

concerts in the nottoo distant past.

Probably, SriLankans love remi-niscing the pastbecause thesereunion concerts dodraw a large crowd.

And, what isn’tsurprising is thatSri Lankans, domi-ciled in other partsof the world, alsoeagerly look for-ward to such con-certs.

Reunion showsbecome a realitywhen well knownoutfits decide thatthe time is up forthem to disband.

We have had some memorablereunion concerts in the past , especial-ly featuring some of the past membersof three big names in the local music

scene – theJetliners,Spitfires and theSuper GoldenChimes.

It’s, indeed, atough task get-ting ex-mem-bers together,for a reunionshow, because,invariably,quite a few ofthem havemigrated. Sorehearsalsbecome a prob-lem.

However,promoters havesucceeded andthe audience

has had memorable moments at suchshows.

The Super Golden Chimes, led byClarence Wijewardene, were the trend-

setters in Sinhala pop music, and nomajor concert, in the island, was com-plete without their participation.

Of course, as we all know, Clarenceis no more and so is the group. But theavailable members do join forces, whenit’s needed, for reunion concerts.

The Super Golden Chimes did have acouple of reunion concerts in the past, and they are ready to do it again – inAustralia, Dubai, and the UK, as well.

Down Under, they will be performingin Melbourne and Sydney.

The Melbourne concert is scheduledfor February 21st (2015), and the SriLankans, in that part of the world, arelooking forward to this reunion concertwith great enthusiasm.

The Super Golden Chimes (2015) willcomprise Annesley Malawana, RukshanPerera, Nimal Perera, Paul Perera,Dixon Gunaratne, and ChandralFonseka.

They did do a reunion concert, inAustralia, before and it was a huge suc-cess.
