New Variable Star in Lyra.

this star for 1855 is

There are several small stars near this place, but the diagram will show clearly the position of the variable, which at maximum attains a (photo- graphic) magnitude ofabout IO'I,, and at minimum descends below I 2 magnitude. South

Below are the estimated magnitudes derived from photographs taken with a 4.4in. portrait lens. In making these estimates, the photographic magnitude of the star just south preceding the variable was assumed to be 10 .5 , and

that of the star nearly midway between BD. +43?3025 and BD. +43?3029 to be 1 1 . 0 .

It would appear from the above observations that the star was at a maximum a day or two later than Sept. 3, 1900; and that it was near a maximum on Dec.31, 1899. There is no certain trace of the star on the last plate, although stars down to about 12 mag. are distinctly shown.

Die nachstehende Ephemeride ist mit den Lamp'schen ftir die Erscheinung I 895 osculirenden Elementen ge- rechnet worden. Die seither eingetretenen Sttirungen k6nnen nicht gross gewesen sein, so dass ihre Nichtberucksichtigung den Ort nicht sehr verMIschen wird.
