District administrationKishtwar has braced up fora massive mopping exer-cise and vaccination driveto achieve the inoculationtargets in the district.

He further briefed thatthat district administra-tion is bracing to conductdoor to door mopping ex-ercise and Vaccination un-der the supervision of se-nior officers of the district.He said the vaccinationdrive has been intensifiedin densely populated areasto reduce the risk of infec-tion.

It was also revealed thatsince 1st of March, 1756cases have been reported,Out of which 1583 recov-ered and 157 are active atpresent.

He informed that thisweek the positivity ratehas dropped to 1.12 % with94 positive cases, which ison high side whereas thetotal recoveries for theweek has been 69 asagainst the 101 for previousweek which is on downside.

He furthermore in-formed that all the COVIDcontainment measureshave been placed in to pre-vent any exigency.

A lecture on "Health and Sanitation"was conducted by Indian Army on 03Jul 2021 in remote areas of Banihalwith an aim to spread awareness aboutgood personal hygiene and its impor-tance for health and social reasons,which was attended by 77 locals.

The lecture emphasised on good hy-giene practices like frequent hand-washing, dental care, bathing andwearing clean clothes which leads togood health and prevent diseases.

The locals were also made aware ofthe symptoms of COVID-19, COVIDvaccination program started by gov-ernment and various preventive mea-sures.

The Agriculture Produc-tion & Farmers Welfare De-partment (AP&FWD)Kashmir today organizedApiculture Mapping Dayfor mapping of Apiary unitsspread across the valley inorder to formulate a com-prehensive policy for pro-motion of Apiculture in the

UT of J&K. In this regard, Director

Agriculture KashmirChowdhary MohammadIqbal formulated specialteams of Joint Directors ofAgriculture to monitor theevent across the valley.

In this backdrop, com-prehensive ceremonieswere held all across the 10districts wherein a largenumber of beekeepers in-teracted with the officers

and officials of the depart-ment.

Experts exhorted uponthe officers of the depart-ment to motivate youth to-wards establishment of vi-able bee keeping units asthe sector has good poten-tial to generate income notonly in honey productionbut also the production ofby-products like Bee wax,Propolis, Bee Venom andRoyal Jelly.

The bee keepers high-lighted various problemsfaced by the bee industryand suggested some mea-sures which are required tobe taken by the AgricultureDepartment for its promo-tion.

Director Agriculture onthis day assured that the de-partment will take everypossible measure for the re-vival and promotion of thesector.

In order to implement thedirections of LieutenantGovernor, Deputy Commis-sioner (DC) Srinagar, Mo-hammad Aijaz Asad todaychaired a meeting to reviewthe pace of ongoing Vacci-nation drive and devise astrategy to achieve 100 per-cent target of eligible popu-lation.

The Director Health Ser-vices Kashmir, Dr. MushtaqAhmad Rather was alsopresent on the occasion.

The DC said that no per-son has the right to put oth-ers' life at risk by infectingthem or make any publicplace a Covid-19 Hotspot.He said strict action underlaw shall be taken againstthe persons who violateCovid-19 SOPs in any form.

He directed all the officersto work in a coordinatedmanner and intensify vacci-nation process in the dis-trict to achieve 100 percenttarget within next ten daysso that people of Srinagardistrict are protected from

deadly coronavirus and pre-dicted a third wave.

The DC directed for set-ting up of a Control Room tomonitor the Covid-19 Vac-cination besides ensuringupdate Medical Zone/Blockwise Vaccination reports af-ter every 3 hours. He alsodirected the concerned offi-cers to finish the ongoingdoor to door mapping ofunvaccinated areas andidentify high risk areas sothat appropriate measuresare taken at the earliest.

He further directed thatspecial Vaccination/Testingsites be set up at all entrypoints of the City includingPantha Chowk and Parim-pora to ensure all travellersare tested and vaccinated toprevent the spread of Covid-19 infection.

The DC said that the pri-ority is to protect humanlives for which Covid-19vaccination and strict ad-herence to Covid Appropri-ate Behaviour are onlymeans with us and focusedattention needs to be givenfor the same with top mostpriority.

The DC further said thatShopkeepers/owners ofBusiness establishmentswould be held responsiblefor allowing any unvacci-nated person in their shopsor violating Covid-19 SOPs.

Though the DC laudedthe efforts and hard workbeing done by some officersfor achieving Vaccinationtargets, he expressed hisdispleasure over the unsatis-factory performance in fewMedical Zones/Blocks with

regard to Covid-19 vaccina-tion. He asked the officersto work with Mission modeand improvise their perfor-mance to achieve the tar-gets.

The Director Health Ser-vices Kashmir also spoke onthe occasion and shared hissuggestions in the meeting.He also highlighted the ben-efits of vaccination. He saidHealth functionaries andother frontline workers areworking day in and day outto get the vaccinationprocess done well in time tosave the precious lives bymotivating them to comeforward and get vaccinatedforthwith.

The Divisional Commis-sioner (Div Com) Kashmir,Pandurang K Pole today fe-licitated a Srinagar YouthUzair Fayaz Khan forachieving awards of Inter-national Book of Recordsand Indian Book of Recordsfor completing 940- kilo-metres long distance be-tween Srinagar to Delhi onfoot in a recorded 7 days’time.

Appreciating Uzair, DivCom congratulated him forcreating history and regis-tering his name in the Inter-national and Indian Book ofRecords.

He said that other youthshould learn from Uzairthat with determinationand hard work anything ispossible like Uzair provedby covering such a long dis-tance on foot in recordedtime.He said that Uzair de-serves applause and Ad-ministration is always onforefront to provide them

the support they need. 25- year- old, Uzair of

Nowhatta Srinagar a stu-dent, pursuing B.A in Psy-chology at Amar Singh Col-lege had always beeninterested in running andtaking part in marathons,since his school days.

Before taking this chal-lenge of running from Sri-nagar to Delhi, Khanclaimed to have undergonerigorous 7 months longtraining.

He said that the motive ofthe run was to create anti-drug addiction awarenessamong youth.

Khan started his journey

from Bakhshi Stadium Sri-nagar on April- 2 and fin-ished it at Rajghat Delhi onApril- 8, 2021.

He said that he has alsoparticipated in marathonruns from Srinagar toSonamarg, Gulmarg andPahalgam earlier.

He said that the run toDelhi was not an easy taskas he faced many challengesincluding, climatic condi-tions, foot injuries andother difficulties on theway, but he kept on takingsteps without any regrets orremorse to reach his goal.

Khan said that he hasbeen supported by Abraq

Agro and Divisional Ad-ministration Kashmir.

After making a record,Khan applied for registra-tion for International Bookof Records, Indian Book ofRecords and WorldRecords India out of whichhe has got the two success-fully.

‘I will continue taking onnew challenges and registerfor the Guinness Book ofWorld Records also,’ saidKhan.

He said that through thisrun he wanted to give astrong message to all thoseyouth involved in drugs that‘nothing is impossible’.

‘It is disheartening to seeour youth falling prey todrug menace. I was carry-ing a small banner all alongto create awareness on drugabuse. I wish our youth whohave become addicts quitthe wrong practice and geta new hope of living a betterlife again,’ added Khan.

Khan further expressedhis gratitude to all who sup-ported him during his runto Delhi.

Reviewing the arrange-ments for the ensuing Eid-ul-Azha festival, the Divi-sional Commissioner (DivCom) Kashmir, PandurangK Pole today called forputting up enforcement,vaccination and testing ser-vices at all religious andmarket places across Kash-mir.

The Div Com said thatcovid enforcement teamsshall remain deployed at allmarketplaces to ensure peo-ple are following the CovidSOPs including use ofmasks and social distancing

religiously.He said that besides

teams shall be deployed forvaccination and testing atall religious places and mar-ket places including sacrifi-cial animals sale centers toensure containment ofspread of Covid -19.

He appealed to peoplethat though the positivityrate is on decline, however,they should maintain covidappropriate behaviour as ahabit to remain safe fromthe virus.

The Div Com directed allDCs of Kashmir to establishsale centers where peoplecan purchase the sacrificialanimals with proper

COVID-19 protocol.Stressing on rate regula-

tion and availability of qual-ity poultry, the Div Com in-structed concerned toconstitute multi-depart-mental squads to conductextensive market checkingto prevent traders, dealersand shopkeepers resortingto hoarding, overcharging,black marketing or sale ofsub-standard items.

The Div Com emphasizedon PDD and PHE to ensureuninterrupted supply ofelectricity and drinking wa-ter across all districts dur-ing the festival days.

The DCs were asked torope in religious leaders for

COVID-19 SOPs’ IEC activi-ties to sensitize peopleabout the importance of fol-lowing laid down guidelinesand precautions to controlthe disease effectively.

Police authorities were in-structed to ensure propersecurity arrangements andprevent the public from re-sorting to any sort of viola-tion during the festivitydays.

He emphasized on freemovement of nomads andtrucks carrying sacrificialanimals through Mughalroad and Sinthan road be-sides vaccination and test-ing booths be set up on theboth roads for all incomingtravellers.

Stressing on cleanlinessand sanitation, Commis-sioner SMC Srinagar wasdirected to ensure regularlifting of garbage and wastematerial and maintenanceof proper sanitation aroundreligious and market places.

Among others, the meet-ing was attended by DC Sri-nagar, RTO Kashmir, ChiefEngineers, PHE, R&B, Di-rectors of Health Services,FCS&CA and Sheep Hus-bandry, SSP Traffic, SPHeadquarter Srinagar,CEO, Waqf Board and otherdignitaries.

IGP Kashmir, DeputyCommissioners and SSPs ofall districts of Kashmir alsoattended the meetingthrough video conferenc-ing.

The theme of the eventwas Don’t be Drastic; SayNo to Plastic. The event washeld under the supervisionand able guidance of collegePrincipal Dr. SameruSharma. In her message shesaid that Plastic Bag FreeDay is a global initiative thataims to eliminate the use ofsingle-use plastic bags in theworld.

It is about promoting envi-ronmental conservation byencouraging us all to stayaway from the use of plasticbags and opt for eco-friendly alternatives. Largenumber of participants

from different colleges ofJammu, Kashmir andLadakh participated in theevent and presented theirideas regarding the themethrough poster.

The event was organizedby NSS volunteers MandeepSingh, Sakshi Bhat, Mohd.Sami, Paras Gupta and co-
