2013 MEDIA KITRecent years in the marine/offshore industry have been laden with challenges. Struggling economies presented even more obstacles for growth and progression, but thanks to technological developments prior to and post-Macondo, deepwater drilling and production have been revolutionized and demand is now on a steady incline.
In 2012, Offshore reported a 56% increase in the worldwide deepwater rig �eet. The �oating production vessel backlog order is now at an all-time high with an expected 233 projects on the horizon. Production in the Middle East, West Africa, Asia, India, North Sea, and Brazil continue to increase and the Gulf of Mexico is experiencing a resurgence in E&P activity driven by deepwater plays. In fact, the Gulf of Mexico deepwater rig count is expected to surpass pre-moratorium levels by the end of 2012 and to reach 45 to 50 rigs by 2014, according to Barclays Capital’s September 2012 drilling permit report.
