Our Second Phase
Began: August 11, 2013
![Page 3: Land & Building Committee Walt SmithGary Schmidt](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022062811/56815f3f550346895dce143a/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
What have we accomplished so far?
1. We determined we needed to move.
2. We analyzed our budget to determine our ability fund a new space.
3. We looked for land, and, with the help of the Pioneers, located a property on Rt. 9.
4. We developed a concept plan for our new
sanctuary and existing building modifications. 5. WE voted YES to go forward!
![Page 4: Land & Building Committee Walt SmithGary Schmidt](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022062811/56815f3f550346895dce143a/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Now the Hard Work Begins
There are two “projects” going on concurrently:
1. Development of clear final architectural plans and securing of cost estimates.
2. Engaging an Engineering Firm to complete a “Site Plan.”
![Page 5: Land & Building Committee Walt SmithGary Schmidt](https://reader036.vdocuments.site/reader036/viewer/2022062811/56815f3f550346895dce143a/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Architectural Plans: Mike Molyneux, an experienced local Designer developed a basic plan. After numerous modifications, he is currently finalizing material requirements to allow us to submit plans to pre-screened builders for construction estimates. We have two potential options. One is the conventional stick-built construction method and the other is the post-frame method. BOTH will comply with our requirement of seamlessly tying into the existing structure.

Site Plans
What are the components of a Site Plan? 1. Wetland Delineation. 2. Property Boundary Survey. 3. Topographic Survey. 4. Concept Plans. 5. Preliminary Plans for the County. 6. Construction Plans including submitting applications
to appropriate State/County agencies; securing necessary Fire Marshal approvals, water system plans, wastewater disposal, and entrance design.
7. Submitting of all final plans to Sussex County Planning and Zoning for final approval.

We have interviewed three qualified engineering firms:
1. Davis, Bowen and Friedel
2. True North
3. Pennoni Associates (internal referral)
We are concluding a second interview with Pennoni Associates on Monday, 10/21, with the anticipation of issuing them the contract.

Challenges Ahead
Timing! Timing! Timing!
Our most important challenge ahead is to promptly secure construction estimates and site costs to be submitted to the BOT and to the Finance Committee so that they are both satisfied that the building of our new Sanctuary is economically viable and UUSD should move on with the negotiation for the purchase of the Pioneer property.

AND
We start construction as early as possible to complete the building of our new home by 12/31/15.
