he older I get, the urther behind the times I
seem to get.
From my point o view, Im right up to date. I
have a computer, and I have a cell phone, its not a
smart phone, but its not stupid either. It tells me
when Ive missed a call, when its battery is low,the day, date and time, and it takes pictures...........
well.....It doesnt take pictures, I have to click a
bunch o things to get to the point where I can take
a picture. And........the photographic quality quite
literally sucks... ......theres no other way to put it.
his past all I went to the Northeast Montana
Fair in Glasgow........ .you may have heard o both.....
the air and Glasgow. Nemont had a trailer there
with a sign inviting olks to come in and see the
latest in Communication devices.......guess theyrenot called phones anymore. Anyway, as it turned
out, they werent inished setting things up yet,
and I only saw a couple o units. A very nice young
lady invited me to come back later, when they had
everything set up and she would be glad to help me.
I told her that rom what I could see, I wouldnt
be back..........things were way to complex or me,
I just wanted something simple and basic..........like
the one Ive had or @%$#&& years.
May I see it? she asked politely. O course.
I drug the thing out o my pocket, its my pride
and joy, makes me eel like part o Starleet, its a
lip phone just like the ones on Star rek...........the
original V series.
Isnt that cute, she said.
I mumbled something under my breath........
Starleet, Star rek, lip open communicators arent
cute..........theyre.........theyre..........hell, maybe they
are cute. Ive never seen one like this beore, she
bubbled.
Ill come back later, I lied.
I put my dinosaur in my pocket and let, but it
wasnt too many months later that I realized, it isnt
my phone thats the dinosaur..........its me.
I only have a computer. All the up to date olks
have desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones and
lord know what all else, and or all o those devices
they can get tons o services.........I think theyre
called apps........or a nominal ee, sometimes
its a one time charge, sometimes its monthly or
quarterly........whatever it is I igured out I cant
aord the ees, let alone the devices. $4 a month or
this $6 a month or that $16 a month or some other
thing.
About a year ago my old computer becameinected, and though lie saving eorts were
extended or weeks, there was just no saving the old
girl, so I shot her to put her out o her misery........
the computer, not my wie. he new one is really
slick, sleek, slender, sexy........the computer, not my
wie, I still have the old one.
Its wireless.......my old computer was loaded
with wires. hey all plugged into something, even
though I wasnt always sure what they all did, but
there was a rats nest o wires, that even bundling andzip tying didnt take care o too well...... .none o that
with the new one, it;s got a power cord, a line rom
the keyboard, a line rom the printer, and..........and
thats it.
he down side o the new computer is I had to
rent a ith grader to show me how to operate it, and
hes eating me out o house and home.........oh and
one more thing........it doesnt have programs like
my old one... ... ..it has apps.
Apps? Apps? What are Apps?

Just some thoughts
to ponder
from an old fart
Ever wonder why the IRS calls it Form1040? Because for every $50 that you
earn, you get 10 and they get 40.
I wish there was a way you could donate
fat like you can donate blood.
Sometimes my thoughts get bored and
go for a stroll out through my mouth-
this is never a good thing!!!
I do not have alzheimers- I have sometimers. Sometimes I remember things
and sometimes I dont
I have a brain like the Bermuda Triangle
Information goes in, never to be found
again.

Tere is a story about a monastery in Europeperched high on a cliff several hundred eet in theair. Te only way to reach the monastery was to besuspended in a basket which was pulled to the top byseveral old monks who pulled and tugged with all theirstrength. Obviously the ride up the steep cliff in that basketwas terriying. One tourist got exceedingly nervousabout hal-way up as he noticed that the rope by whichhe was suspended was old and rayed. With a tremblingvoice he asked the monk who was riding with him inthe basket how ofen they changed the rope. Te monk thought or a moment and answeredbrusquely, Whenever it breaks.
