ABOUT HYDRO SYSTEMS INC
ABOUT TUB COLLECTIONS SPECIALTY FEATURES ARTICLES
SERVICE & SUPPORT
Hydro Systems, Inc., founded in 1978, is based on the principle of providing high-quality whirlpool bathtubs at affordable prices. Our customer service and support is not an afterthought, but a way of life. Integrity and quality are built into each one of our bath systems as a foundation for long lasting products and customer satisfaction.
QUALITY & CHOICE
Hydro Systems manufactures a full line of high quality bathtubs and accessories to suit the needs of all our customers. With our four unique and distinct product categories, Designer, Studio, Shower Pan and Lifestyle Series, we strive to provide the choices our customers deserve. From our factory in California we manufacture hundreds of bathing product options. As a result, we’re sure you’ll find a product designed to meet your unique requirements.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL
At Hydro Systems, we take pride in using only components made in North America that meet our exacting standards in material and craftsmanship. We work hard at shopping for value so that you can be guaranteed a top-quality product at the best possible price. We pay close attention to detail, because detail makes the difference in producing a product that you’ll be satisfied with for years to come.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
To further your satisfaction, Customer Service is the cornerstone of our business. From the first
product inquiry, to placing an order, to receiving a shipment, your satisfaction is our number one priority. Our Service Department is experienced at handling even the most unique situation quickly and effectively. Rest assured, we stand behind our products with our exclusive Hydro Systems Warranty.
COMMITMENT
Not only are we committed to our customers, but we are also committed to the world we live in.“Green” may be a new catch phrase to some, but it is business as usual to us. This dedication covers not only our manufacturing practices but also our product line. We look forward to helpingyou find the right solution that brings you years of relaxation and enjoyment. We have made the following information as accurate and factual as possible. We reserve the right to make changes at any time without notice to pricing, colors, specifications, materials and availability. We update our literature periodically, so please check with your Hydro Systems dealer or your local sales representative for complete sales information.

ABOUT TUB COLLECTIONS SHOWERS SPECIALTY FEATURES ARTICLES
“Green”, “ECO friendly” and other such slogans, tied to a logo with a leaf or other print in a green color, are the latest in politically correct marketing. Just as “Y2K compatible” was big at the turn of the millennium, any opportunity for a company to jump on board with the latest and greatest catch phrase or marketing trend is embellished.
At Hydro Systems, today’s environment and tomorrow’s future are not catch phrases or marketing opportunities, but rather commitments and part of a corporate governance that has been promoted and advanced over the past 30 years.
“We were doing what’s right for the environment years before it was in the mainstream. It is second nature to Hydro Systems” says Scott Steinhardt, President of Hydro Systems. “Whereas I applaud the fact that it is now ‘politically correct’ to take care of the environment and do what is right, we have been doing it for years and not for the accolades. We do it because it is right and makes sense.” Hydro Systems core operations include the following aspects:
VOLUNTARY CORRUGATED & PALLET RECYCLING
This has been an ongoing program for years with local vendors. This reuses the products, where applicable, as well as eliminating any landfill usage or secondary recycling efforts.
BY-PRODUCT MATERIAL RECYCLING
Whenever possible, any by product from the manufacturing process is collected and
recycled when appropriate to do so. Aggressive positioning in the past has helped to create many of the current recycling programs available today.
10,000 SQUARE FOOT ENVIRONMENTAL FACILITY
Hydro Systems FRP (fiberglass reinforced polymer) department is contained within a 100% climate and environmentally controlled facility. All air in the department is filtered and run through a state-of-the-art containment and regeneration system that captures and catalyzes any VOCs or airborne particles. Operating at a 97% or greater efficiency (whereas the stringent standard only calls for an 85% efficiency), Hydro Systems environmental system is one of, if not the best, in the world.
ROOF MOUNTED SOLAR PANELS
Hydro Systems roof mounted solar grid collects enough of the sun’s rays to offset all of the power required to manufacture all of its products. For all intents and purposes, Hydro Systems is off the grid! A solar project the size of the configuration of Hydro Systems’ requires a tremendous commitment of capital funds and may not make sense from an accounting or financial “return on investment” time frame. As it is clearly evident, Hydro Systems’ commitment to the environment goes farther and deeper than profits and return on investment: it is an investment in the future of our community and the return on such an endeavor is not measured in dollars: it is measured in sense!

HYDRO SYSTEMS IS PROUD TO BE MADE IN AMERICA.
INNOVATIVE MANUFACTURING SOLUTIONS
Hydro Systems utilizes the industry’s most advanced air filtration system. This has been proven to eliminate 99% of our emissions before it is discharged into the atmosphere. Not only do we look out for our customers, but we look out for our neighbors as well.
USING NATURE’S CLEANING SYSTEM
Every Designer tub comes standard with HydrOzone, which not only provides a bathing experience like bathing in bottled water, but also eliminates the need for many cleaning
chemicals, keeping such elements out of the waste water supply.
MINIMIZING OUR FOOTPRINT
For years we have participated in voluntary community recycling programs and make every effort to reduce our carbon footprint.

Our active lifestyles subject us to more aches and pains than ever before. Whereas modern medicine has afforded micro surgeries and other solutions to what would have been sidelining injuries a decade ago, modern bathtub technology has brought the outdoor spa indoors.
The Lifestyle 5230 is a tub that allows the therapeutic benefits of a horizontal bathtub to be realized on a vertical format. Add to that the fact that there is no climbing in and out, and the benefits of this tub prove countless.
For decades the classic designs for indoor therapeutic bathtubs have been somewhat horizontal elements. Luxury tubs have been created for lying down and lounging while reaping the benefits of hot water. With the
creation of the Lifestyle 5230, all the benefits of a traditional tub are now in a vertical position, mirroring the position of a traditional outdoor spa. Add to this the ease of entry and exit allowed with the door and you have the best of both worlds.
With the 5230 footprint, standard 8” filler shelf and extension panel, a retrofit into an existing 6030 or 6032 opening now allows for more options and a roomier bathing experience with this design of tub. Compared to similar style tubs on the market, this unit has a lower threshold, comfortable seat height and, with its 40 inch overall height and wider seat, provides more room and a better soaking height while seated. These are just some of the advantages of the vertical bathtub!

A question that is often poised is “Why Hydro Systems?” The following pages provide an in-depth look at what makes Hydro Systems bathtubs the best built, best backed, best performing bathtubs on the market.
AN IN-DEPTH LOOKHYDRO SYSTEMS

The air movement – from strategically placed, barely visible air jets – activates the immune system and increases blood circulation. The combination of heat and air movement, along with water, creates an unparalleled therapeutic effect while relieving sore muscles, joint pain and inflammation.
WHIRLPOOLPOWERFUL MASSAGING JETS SOOTH SORE, ACHING MUSCLES Experience deep therapeutic massage for sore, aching muscles with our Whirlpool massage therapy. High-performance jets targeted to specific body areas promote increased blood flow, resulting in pain relief, improved flexibility and possibly even the reduction of the appearance of cellulite. Whirlpool therapy can greatly benefit those with specific problems such as backaches, neck pain, sprains or other injuries.
CUSTOMIZE & DESIGN YOUR HYDROTHERAPY EXPERIENCE
Let Hydro Systems help you achieve the ultimate in personal bathing satisfaction. We allow you the flexibility to customize your tub with personal jet location, quantity of jets and type of jet therapy. While some companies may try to convince you that “one size fits all” for their convenience, we celebrate the difference in us all and the belief that a personalized hydrotherapy session ensures the greatest benefit to every individual. We do not sell a “tub in a box” — our bathtubs are built per order allowing us to create the desired experience into every bathtub we build.
STANDARD STUDIO JETThe standard builder jet is a directional jet that has the added benefits of volume control, thus allowing you to increase or decrease the pressure of the massage in different directions.
STANDARD ADJUSTABLE/ DIRECTIONAL DESIGNER JETThis is Hydro Systems standard whirlpool jet. It is directionally adjustable by moving the nozzle. The pressure is adjusted by rotating the jet from full flow to completely off.
SWIRLING ADJUSTABLE DESIGNER JETThis popular upgrade provides a swirling, pulsating flow of water. Just as the Standard Adjustable/ Directional Designer jet, the pressure is adjustable by easily rotating the jet face.
JUMBO JETThis optional, extra large therapeutic jet was adapted from the outdoor spa industry. This jet produces a higher water flow volume, with less velocity. It is fully adjustable, with directional and volume controls, providing a great option to a whirlpool system.
JUMBO ROTATING JETThis extra large spinning therapeutic jet was also adapted from the outdoor spa industry. Similar in operation to the Swirling Designer Jet, this jet affords a rotational, pulsating action.
MICRO THERAPY JETThis jets’ unique size allows it to be placed in areas of the tub where a traditional jet will not fit. Many customers opt for these jets near armrests as hand, wrist or lower arm jets for carpal tunnel syndrome relief. This jet is volume controllable.
BACK MASSEUSE SYSTEM 1These jets are available with the Back Masseuse System 1 and are installed in a series of 6 jets operated by a single volume control. A pulsation massage is creating by the swirling action of these jets, providing greater relief than a single jet.
BACK MASSEUSE SYSTEM 2These jets are available with the Back Masseuse System 2 and are controlled by an electronic keypad. This 6 jet series offers direct flow onto your back. The electronic keypad directs the jets to operate in a Shiatsu pattern utilizing only two jets at a time, as well as the speed of transition from one pair of jets to another.

THE ULTIMATE IN SANITARY BATHING
Just imagine your peace of mind knowing that
while indulging yourself with hydrotherapy, you’re
also using nature’s method to purify your water.
At Hydro Systems we offer you the choice of
adding HydrOzone to your Hydrotherapy system.
HydrOzone introduces natural ozone to immediately
begin sanitizing your water while running your
Hydrotherapy system. This revolutionary feature
creates an anti-bacterial environment in your bath
and plumbing system. It’s an easy and cost-effective
way to ensure a sanitary bathing environment every
time you step into your tub.
BENEFITS OF HYDROZONEALL NATURAL AND SAFE
Ozone is made naturally from the oxygen we breathe. Instead of having two atoms of oxygen, ozone has three, with the extra atom creating a powerful and natural sanitizer. In water, ozone lasts
just long enough – less than one second – to do its purification job. Then it reverts back to regular oxygen, leaving no by-products in the water.
EFFECTIVE AND PROVEN
Ozone is 200 times stronger than household bleach as a purifier. It has been used for over 100 years to sanitize municipal water sources. The City of Los Angeles operates one of the largest ozone municipal water treatment plants in the world. Almost all bottled water is treated with ozone. And more than 90% of hot tubs and spas already use ozone sanitation systems – not to mention the White House swimming pool and most major water parks and large aquariums.
AUTOMATIC AND MAINTENANCE-FREE
Ozone is automatically introduced to the bath water when the pump is turned on. The HydrOzone system will operate maintenance-free for 9,000 one-hour bathing sessions. That’s a one-hour bath a day for approximately 25 years!

ABOUT TUB COLLECTIONS SHOWERS SPECIALTY FEATURES ARTICLES
For centuries cultures in Europe, Asia and North America have understood the benefits of natural hot spring soaking for temporary relief of aches and pains, and as a remedy for many other illnesses. Today you can bring these wonderful benefits right into your home as part of your personal hydrotherapy experience. One of the three principles of hydrotherapy is heat, often referred to as hydrothermal therapy. Immersion in hot water raises the body temperature and causes blood vessels to dilate, improving circulation and helping melt away aches and pains.
THE HYDROTHERMAL THERAPY EXPERIENCE
Of course everyone’s body will react differently to various forms of hydrotherapy but the following is a basic breakdown of what you might expect from a typical hydrothermal therapy session: After five minutes your blood pressure and pulse rate may
begin to drop.
After twelve minutes your muscles will begin to relax and your body tissues become more flexible, which may aid in the release of toxins from your system.
After fifteen minutes many people find temporary relief from minor aches and pains.
Please note, if you have a medical condition or are pregnant, consult with your physician before starting any hydrotherapy program.
RELIEF OF TENSION & EVERYDAY ACHES & PAINSTo reduce tension, a water temperature of 94 to 96 degrees F (close to skin temperature) often will provide beneficial results. A higher temperature, such as between 102 and 104 degrees F, may work well to loosen tight muscles and reduce the pain of stress-related conditions such as backache.
HYDROTHERMAL THERAPY FOR A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP
Evening is one of the best times to soak in hot water. You will most likely find that a good soak before going to bed will make falling asleep easier and give you a deeper, more restful night’s sleep.

BACK MASSEUSE
Back pain is the second most common reason people in the U. S. visit the doctor each year. Millions of people suffer needlessly from back pain. With Hydro Systems’ Back Masseuse, you can reduce that nagging back pain and enjoy increased flexibility. We offer two unique back systems to accommodate any budget. Our manual system allows you to control water flow to the whirlpool system or the back masseuse and additionally it allows the blending of both. Our electrically controlled system allows you to set a “shiatsu” type massage that automatically turns the jets on and off to manipulate the muscles up and down your back. Both systems utilize six strategically located jets. Our Back Masseuse is designed to heighten the therapeutic effects of hydrotherapy.
NECK MASSEUSE
The Neck Masseuse is designed to increase circulation and relax muscle tension in the body’s most vital passageway. Hydro massaging water directed onto the neck increases circulation, which relieves the very uncomfortable muscle tightening that comes from accumulated stress and poor circulation. Select the pulse level that best meets your needs: Level one for subtle and sleepy, level two for attention-getting and soothing, and level three for intense and maximum stress relief.
Enjoy your own masseuse in the comfort of your home and massage your aches and pains away.

One question asked of remodeling and general contractors when contemplating a bathroom renovation or new build is the timeless quandary: “Should we go with a tub or just a shower?”
A SMART INVESTMENT
Arguably, most experts agree that one’s home is their greatest lifetime investment. Additionally, it is where one spends much of their time and enjoys not only it’s functionality but also takes great pride in its attributes. When remodeling or building a new home, it is imperative to make intelligent choices, not just for personal use but also for future home value as well. The addition of a bathtub to the bathroom project can turn an initial investment of hundreds into a future reward of thousands, all the while providing an enjoyable benefit that is useful on a daily basis.
Adding or maintaining a bathtub in a secondary bath is also key, for a bathroom with a tub is considered a full bath, whereas those with only a shower are typically considered a ¾ bath. This factor is key when selling a home.
“When my buyers are looking for a home, there are typically 4 criteria in which we base our search. Those consistent 4 areas are: location, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, price and square footage” says Terri Bruno of Prudential Realty in Orange County, CA. Listing a house as 3 baths as opposed to 2 ½ or 2 ¾ provides a distinct advantage. Terri adds, “in my experience, homes that have a bathtub in the Master Bath sell for a for a higher dollar and quicker than those without a master tub.”
SELL YOUR HOME FASTER
An additional point echoed in the sentiments of real estate agents around the country has to do with one very important aspect of the sale of a home. When it is time to sell ones home, getting the maximum return on the home is key, however getting more and selling faster are additional caveats that need to be considered. These views appear to be supported universally. “The value of a bathtub to a shower, especially in a master or downstairs bath is quantifiable. Sometimes buyers will not even look at a property if it does not have a bathtub. The increase in value easily
THE BEST VALUE FOR YOUR HOME
exceeds the cost”, says Neal Weichel of ReMax of Los Angeles, CA.
Marketability and overall value are determined by differentiation from comps (comparable homes in the same area), as well as the basic home description and qualification of the comps in general. Investors will buy properties, remodel the bathrooms, and “turn” the home, making a profit by distinguishing the home from others in the neighborhood due to the added amenities. On the advice of realtors or due to market demands, many homeowners invest in a bathroom remodel in order to market and sell their homes.
SO WHY WAIT?
Basic logic asks the question: Why fix up the home and add niceties for the next owner? Why not enjoy the benefits while residing in the home as well as reaping the benefits when eventually selling?
All facts and testimonials support the same view: when making decisions on a project, the addition of a bathtub is a sure way to create the maximum return on the bathroom investment. Additionally the tub can be used and enjoyed. One of the few areas in one’s life where “you can have your cake and eat it too!”

Relax… immerse yourself in the ultimate calming and comforting bathing experience… with hydrotherapy… the therapeutic use of water to heal and soothe aches and pains.
When you choose hydrotherapy, you’ll tap into an approach for water healing that’s been around for centuries… even used by the ancient Egyptian, Greek and Roman civilizations.
Here’s why the use of hydrotherapy provides you with so many benefits:
BUOYANCY: Being in water reduces body weight by 90% and relieves pressure on sore joints and muscles. The feeling of weightlessness also brings a sense of peace and relaxation.
HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE: Focused whirlpool jets provide a massaging action, which combined with weightlessness relaxes tight muscles and releases natural pain killers (called endorphins) into your system.
WATER TEMPERATURE: Hot water raises your body temperature and causes blood vessels to dilate. This increases circulation, which can speed up your body’s natural healing process.
There are four types of Hydrotherapy, each one producing different results:
HYDROSOAK THERAPY
Submerge yourself in warm water, making yourskin feel softer, helping your pores eliminatetoxins, improving circulation and promotingnatural healing and relaxation.
WHIRLPOOL HYDROTHERAPY
Let powerful, massaging jets provide you witha deep, invigorating massage to relax tightmuscles, rejuvenate muscular tissue and releaseyour body’s natural pain killers.
THERMAL AIR HYDROTHERAPY
Wash away stress and fatigue as thousands of tiny bubbles engulf your body in a warm, soothing therapeutic massage from the top of your neck to the soles of your feet.
COMBINATION HYDROTHERAPY
Create your own unique hydrotherapy environment that promotes maximum relaxation and allows your body to receive even deeper therapeutic benefits by combining our Whirlpool and Thermal Air therapies. It’s great whether you want a relaxing bath to wind down your busy day or an invigorating high-intensity massage to prepare for the day ahead.

Everyone agrees, if your budget allows, having both is ideal – but what if you need to choose?
OH, THE POSSIBILITIES!
Today’s shower systems are varied: from ceiling heads to body spraying jets to temperature controlled valving – the shower possibilities available are incredible. And today’s Therapy Bathtub options have an abundance of choices as well; Air and Whirlpool Therapies, pillows with neck massaging jets, shiatsu back massage, lighting environments, fragrance, on and on.
If you have to choose between standing in a therapy shower or laying in a therapy tub, which one will provide the greatest therapeutic benefit?
A BETTER WAY TO RELAX
If a choice has to be made, a bathtub wins hands down for therapeutic benefits due to the simple fact that you can lay down and truly relax. A
shower requires you to stand and standing alonerequires virtually every muscle in the body to beengaged to keep your balance. If you add the need to provide resistance from the pushing of the body jets, additional effort is needed and muscle engagement is increased. A bathtub allows you to let go, disengage muscles and allow the therapy to have a deeper, longer lasting effect. It makes perfect sense when you consider comparing the experience to a massage at the spa.
Have you ever received a massage standing up? Laying down is the ultimate relaxation position for the body. By the way, have you ever slept standing up? Okay, now I am just being silly – but I think the point is easy to prove with those basic examples.
HUGE WATER SAVINGS
There is another advantage that is important as we try to conserve our resources – water usage. Many of those shower systems require shower valving with increased water volume to operate. The typical shower valve for that type of system will pump out an incredible 15-18 gallons a minute.
A 15 minute shower could use a whopping 270 gallons of water! Whereas a typical oversized bathtub holds about 70-80 gallons empty, with a water displacement of the average person being about 30 gallons, you are down to 40-50 gallons and your relaxation session will go for much longer than 15 minutes. Next time you decide to watch a movie and unwind, feel free to lay down and enjoy, standing in front of the TV just won’t do it. (Sorry – I couldn’t resist!)

How much tub can I afford? This is a question that everyone asks at one point in the design process. In making such an assessment, there are several facets that need to be explored in order to make the most educated and thorough decision. There are several key points that need to be considered and, just like with any other long term decision to be made, all available options need to be considered.
OVERALL DESIGN
When remodeling your bath the biggest key is to take advantage of your design options. For many homeowners, remodeling their bath is high on the priority list. So do you simply put in a new version of what you have, or do you make this a dual purpose sanctuary? For many, the thought of a sanctuary bath seems beyond reach, however it is actually closer to reality than you might think. The bathtub is the centerpiece of creating that escape. Today’s bathtubs come in every size and shape imaginable. In addition to being a bathtub, there is an opportunity to make it so much more. The following are some of the options available on a bathtub:
HYDROTHERAPY
From a physical massage standpoint, there are an abundance of choices. There is an Air System that engulfs your body with thousands of tiny air bubbles, stimulating circulation and providing a gentle massage. This system has multiple speeds and a wave mode that constantly varies the intensity. The traditional whirlpool bath provides a more intense, deep massage to specific pressure points in the body. Over the years, this system has evolved into pillows with integral neck massaging jets and “shiatsu type” back massaging jets that can sequence up and down your back.
CHROMATHERAPY
Light therapy in which programmable lighting sequences are employed to help stimulate specific responses from the brain. The spectrum varies from a warm and vibrant pattern to stimulate and awaken your senses to cool calming colors to help you relax. Chromatherapy also creates a serene ambiance in the entire room, for the light radiates from the water and creates a surreal environment.

AROMATHERAPYIntegral fragrance injection is also gaining pace as a most requested option. This is a no mess, no hassle option to provide therapy through your sense of smell using fragrance as your therapist. Whether injected with lavender to help slowly provide tranquility and relaxation or maybe eucalyptus to help ease a cold or congestion. The key being that the more senses you engage the more complete the experience. Having a luxury bathtub will allow many expenses to be offset simply by the fact that, with the use of the bath, secondary or incidental costs will be mitigated.
Maybe it’s going to the spa to get a massage, or the club for a soak in the whirlpool. Do not forget any travel time and stress related to going to and from such activities. Basically, for what we justify as luxury expenses each year, we could put a bathtub sanctuary in our own home. This sanctuary has the potential to be a weekly or daily retreat, not just a few times a year. No scheduling or driving to the Spa: it’s right there in the privacy of your own home. Have you ever gone and got an incredible massage, only to have to drive home, fight traffic and, in the end, it proves to be a very temporary benefit?
Imagine this... you are sore and want a good nights sleep. You could draw your bathwater in 5 minutes, get in the bath and let your preferred therapy system slowly relax your body in complete privacy, then simply towel off and crawl into bed for a blissful night’s sleep. No medication or sleep aids, just natural self healing therapy right in your own home.
Of course, once you’ve made this investment in yourself, subsequently you have also made an investment in your home, creating a better resale value and an emotional tool to attract buyers. So while it may not be in your initial “bathroom” budget, adding to the overall quality and wellness in your life is easy to justify.
It is easy to see that adding some or all of these features to a bathtub could create a daily escape within the convenience of your own home. So back to the question – how much do I have to invest to get this personal sanctuary in the comforts of my own home? A basic Air or Whirlpool system can be added to many tubs for around $750-$1500, with more custom and top shelf systems coming in a few dollars higher.
When considering the overall budget for a bathroom project, one may ask: Can I justify the expense? In making the decision, consider two key concepts. Primarily, this is an investment, really, in yourself and a daily pampering.
The upfront cost pays dividends every time you take a relaxing soak or invigorating therapeutic bath.
Additionally, this is an investment that will see returns when selling the house. Very few investments these days afford both personal benefits as well as a return on the investment in the future.
