HORTICULTURE - BSThis degree is designed to provide students with the knowledge andskills needed for production, management and marketing of horticulturaland floriculture crops or designing and building residential or small scalecommercial landscapes. This degree also offers students with stronginterests in science and/or technology opportunities in research relatedfields including preparation for graduate studies. Career prospects rangefrom producing specialty crops such as herbs for upscale restaurants,to managing landscape businesses for growing communities, designingsustainable residential landscapes of the future, working with clientelein botanic and community gardens to enhance urban environments, tomarketing fruits and vegetables for healthier lifestyles. Many formerstudents are self-employed, owning their own greenhouse, nurseryor landscape operation. Others work in upper management of largecorporations; serve in educational institutions, government agencies, orcommunity service organizations; and travel the world developing andmarketing future horticultural crops.
