Whole Leaf Teas Vs Teabags

Whole Leaf Teas• The whole leaf grade teas are made out of

very tender unopened bud along with the first 2 leaves. Due to the absence of mechanized processing steps the leaf structure is very much intact in the handmade process.

• Whole Leaf teas renders itself for use in multiple infusions (the same leaf could be used to extract the decoction multiple times)

• Per cup cost of whole leaf teas are more or less same as the cost of a tea bag.

• However due to the preservation of the natural leaf in its original form in whole leaf handmade teas the healthy constituents are very intact and fully available in the infused brew.

Tea Bags• Teabags are made from very matured leaves

which inevitably consists of stems and the leaves themselves are crushed and chopped into a fine granule kind of structure*

• Tea bags are commonly used just once.

• Tea bags use mostly the grade called fannings

which are flakes like structures.

*The process is called CTC Cutting-Tearing and Curing

• “teaneer” is a whole some and fully handmade range of teas from Vijayalakshmi Natural Farms. This is an enterprising attempt of an entirely agriculture oriented family hitherto dependent entirely on selling our produce to huge factories.

Dry Leaf

Shining Arrows is a White Tea popularly known as silver needles. This tea consists just the unopened buds from the first flush of sprouts . It has a spongy hair like growth on it that makes this appear white in color in the dry leaf form.


“teaneer” shining arrows provides a very mild brew and refreshing flavor and aroma. This tea has to be steeped in lesser temperatures and could be infused a surprisingly larger number of times than the other teas. This is a tea anyone would love at first sip.

Shining Arrows could be infused multiple times as you could see there is literally no much change in the wet leaf between subsequent infusions. With a relatively soft quality of water teaneer shining arrows could be infused for a minimum of 4 times.

“teaneer” Brewing Instructions

• Flow and Aristocrat– Bring water to a near boiling temperature (rolling boil)– Allow the water to cool for about 30 seconds.– Preheat the container or the brewing pot with washing it with the same hot

water.– Add a scoop of teaneer to the extent just to cover the base of the brewing

pot/container. (The tea pot shown in the illustration images brews about – Pour hot water over the leaves and allow it to steep for approximately 2 – 3

minutes. (You could vary your steeping time as per your preference on having your tea with a strong or milder taste)

– Drain the brewed liquor without leaving any residual drops in the container.– The leaves would not have extracted all of its flavors and could be used to

infuse multiple times based on the water quality.– Repeat the same procedure of poring the hot water to get subsequent

infusions.

• Shining Arrows– Shining Arrows is a white tea and it could be infused multiple times over and over to get a very

delicate and aromatic liquor. – Bring water to a lesser temperature than boiling temperature– Allow the water to cool until you could touch the container without it hurts for about 5

seconds .– Preheat the container or the brewing pot with washing it with the same hot water.– Add a scoop of teaneer shining arrows to the extent just to cover the base of the brewing

pot/container. (The tea pot shown in the illustration images brews about 5 cups with approx 2 grams of leaves)

– Pour hot water over the leaves and allow it to steep for approximately 2 – 3 minutes. Drain the brewed liquor without leaving any residual drops in the container.

– The leaves would not have extracted all of its flavors and could be used to infuse multiple times based on the water quality.

– Repeat the same procedure of pouring the hot water to get subsequent infusions. You could get a minimum of 4 infusions even if you use hard tap water.
