1. Introduction
The Gujarat Veterinary Council is a statutory body established
under IVC Act, 1984. The Gujarat Veterinary Council has been
registering Veterinary Graduates, framed its rules and rules were
approved by Govt. of Gujarat on Date 08/01/2007.

2. Aims & Objectives of the Council: -
a. To prepare & maintain the Gujarat State Veterinary Practitioners’
Register containing the names of all persons who possess the
recognized veterinary qualifications and doing Veterinary practice
in Gujarat State.
i. Incorporate additions/deletions or any amendments to the Registry.
ii. Periodical updating of the State Veterinary Practitioner's Register.
iii. Communicate information to Veterinary Council of India for necessary
amendments in Indian Veterinary Practitioner's Register.
b. To advise State Government on all regulatory matters concerning
Veterinary practice and education.
c. To renew registration of all the members every five years under
section 48 of IVC Act-1984.
d. To submit six copies of updates of Veterinary Practitioner Register
every year to the Veterinary council of India.
e. To prepare an electoral Roll for election of four members from the
registered Veterinary Practitioners of Gujarat Veterinary Council
f. To deposit Fourth part of the total Registration/Renewal income to
the Veterinary council of India every year.

g. To work for the welfare of Veterinarians.
h. To regulate veterinary practice in the State
i. To organize technical seminar, training programme for adaptation
of veterinary professionals.
j. To implement the Indian Veterinary Council Act 1984, and Rules
and Regulations framed there under
k. To Implement Gujarat Veterinary Council Rules, 2007
l. To Implement Veterinary Council of India (Standard of
Professional conduct, Etiquette & Code of Ethics for Veterinary
practitioners) Regulations, 1992.
m. Implement such other Acts & Rules promulgated from time to time
by either union or state Government.

4. The Executive Committee of Gujarat Veterinary Council :-
The Executive Committee shall exercise all the powers of the council in
the implementation of decisions of the council and shall have the power to
take decision on behalf of the council in all matters except these falling in the
sphere of other committees. It shall also perform all the functions of the
council that are of administrative nature; provided that this shall not apply
to matters of policy involving an expenditure exceeding Rs.1,00,000/-per
annum from out of the sanctioned budget provision of the council that are of
administrative nature. (As per VCI (General) Regulations, 1991, Rule No.47)

7. Financial statements:-
The office received the total grant of Rs.28,00,000/- (Twenty
Eight lakhs) from the central Govt. & state Govt. on the basis of 50%-
50% and the office expenses of Rs. 34,46,604/- incurred during Year
2015-2016.
8. Activity Details:-
a. During the year 2015-16 total 1199 members /Veterinarians has
renewed their registration and total 179 new veterinarians were get
registered in this Council.
b. The veterinary practitioner's register was updated and updates for the
year 2014-15 in six copies were submitted to the Veterinary council of
India, New Delhi.
c. Total income of Rs.31450/- from new /renewal of registration was
received and one fourth of it, Rs.7863/- was deposited to the Veterinary
council of India, New Delhi.
d. The Gujarat Veterinary council has issued Final/Duplicate
Registration Certificate, Qualification Add Registration certificate & I-
card to 354 members.
e. The Gujarat Veterinary council has developed total interactive
Dynamic website: WWW.GVC.ORG.IN, first of its kind in India among
all Veterinary Councils, having facilities of online applying of
registration/renewal and online payment of all types of fees of GVC
with all services related to GVC. Honorable Minister of Agriculture,
AH, Co-op and fisheries shree Babubhai Bokhiria has launched the
website on 18th August 2015 for providing extraordinary services to
registered members of GVC.

g. Gujarat Veterinary Council (GVC) has successfully organized a one
day seminar on 18.08.2015, Tuesday, At Town Hall Gandhinagar on
topic “ROLE OF VETERINARIAN IN PRE AND POST DISASTER
MITIGATION” Under Assistance to States for Control of Animal
Diseases (ASCAD) in collaboration with Department of Animal
Husbandry, Gujarat State, and Gandhinagar.
Honorable Minister of Agriculture, AH, Co-op and fisheries shree
Babubhai Bokhiria, Prof. M C Varshneya, Vice Chancellor -Kamdhenu
University and Dr.Hita Patel, Director of Animal Husbandry has grace
the seminar with their valuable sharing and speech about what’s
possible for veterinarians if they create positivity in every area of life.
They release new issue of news link and first interactive Dynamic
website of GVC for providing extraordinary services to registered
members of GVC.
Officers from Disaster management authority Mr Bipin Bhatt and
Jagdish Gadhvi (GAS) shared their experience with August gathering.

Dr R.S.Joshi (Co-Ordinater Veterinary Emergency Response Unit
(VERU),West Zone, Anand Veterianry College,) and Dr.Kailash
Brahmkshatriya ( Dy.Director of AH-Kutch D.P.) has delivered their
valuable recent experience in Kutch flood.
More than 500 veterinarians from dairy cooperatives, private
sector and Government of Gujarat has actively participated.

h. A meeting of All Presidents and Registrars, State/Union Territory
Veterinary Council for Development of common software for online
registration of Veterinary practitioners held at NASC Complex, Pusa,
New Delhi on 07.09.2015. The meeting was inaugurated by Dr.
Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Hon'ble Minister of State for Agriculture. Key
note address by Dr. Umesh Chandra Sharma, Hon'ble President,
Veterinary Council of India and welcome address by Dr. Gurdial
Singh, Hon'ble Vice President of the Veterinary Council of India to all
the participants. The detail discussion regarding implementation of
common software for online registration of Veterinary practitioners
and major issues related to State/Union Territory Veterinary Council
were held. GVC had shared its experience of online
registration/renewal.

i. The meeting of the Presidents and Registrars of the Western Zone
State Veterinary Councils (Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, Madhya Pradesh
and Maharashtra) was organized by the Gujarat Veterinary Council on
behalf of Veterinary Council of India at Gujarat on 05.01.2016
discussed different issues related to development of common software
for online registration and updation of State Veterinary Practitioners
Register. As per provision of Section 28 read with Section 30, 46 and
52, State Veterinary registration is required for the purpose of practice
in veterinary medicine as well as employment in Government sector/
University or other organization in that State.

j. Vadodara Veterinary Society organized a national seminar on
Updating knowledge and skill of practicing Veterinarians at the
Business Centre of Federation of Gujarat Industries in Vadodara on 9'"
January, 2016. Dr. Hita Patel, Director, Department of Animal
Husbandry, was the Chief Guest of the seminar. Gujarat Veterinary
Council has contributed Sponsorship of Rs.50,000/- & More than 200
Veterinarians attended the Seminar.
k. Kamdhenu University organized a two-day workshop on Application of
Homeopathy in Veterinary Practice on November 03-04, 2015 at
Gandhinagar. Gujarat Veterinary Council has given Sponsorship of
Rs.20,000/-. The occasion was graced by Prof.M.C.Varshneya, Hon’ble
VC, KU, Dr.Bhaskar Bhatt, President, Homeopathy medical
Association of India, Dr.K.U.Mistry, Chairman, Gujarat Pollution
Control Board, Dr.Hita Patel. Director, Animal Husbandry,
Dr.D.B.Patil, Director of Research, KU and Dr.P.H.Vataliya, Director
of Extension Education, KU. Around 235 delegates and PG students
from the fields of veterinary and homeopathy has actively participated.
During the technical session, veterinarians and homoeopaths from
across the country presented their lectures. A compendium, edited by
Dr. R. G. Shah, ADR, KU and Dr. Poshak Patel, Registrar, GVC
comprising of the articles by veterinarians and homeopathy and a CD
were also released
l. To update the veterinarians regarding news of skills & development in
the field of veterinary science and various news & information of
Veterinary Colleges of Gujarat, two issue of news letter named “News
Link” were published. Each time around 2700 copies were circulated to
all our registered members, Veterinary Colleges other state councils,
VCI & other related institutions.
