ST. THOMAS MORE CHURCH HOUSTON, TEXAS May 10, 2015
Fr. Hai’s Corner
The Ascension of the Lord Jesus (Thursday, May 14),
is a movable feast, where it celebrates the day that
Christ, in the presence of His apostles, ascended
bodily into Heaven. The Ascension occurred on the
40th day of Easter, so it falls on a Thursday, and thus
is o%en called Ascension Thursday; however, in most
dioceses in the United States, the celebra)on of the
Ascension has been transferred to the following Sun-
day, the Seventh Sunday of Easter.
As we reflect upon the Ascension of the Lord Jesus
during the coming week, let us remember that while
Jesus has ascended into Heaven, He is here with us
today. He is present in our hearts. He is present in
His apostolic Church. He is physically present in the
Holy Eucharist and in the Sacred Tabernacle. As mys-
terious as it appears, while He has ascended, our
faith affirms to us that He is s)ll here with us.
May Jesus always be with each and every one of you
as you are moved by His Spirit to proclaim the Good
News to those around you!

It’s that time of year again...Scheduling Time!!!
All ministries and organizations that use parish facilities for their meetings need to make their requests for the upcom-ing year...either the new school year, 2015-2016 or for the calendar year 2016, depending on your meeting schedule. There is a new form that is available on the church web-site, the facility request form. If you do not have access to the internet, you can call the office for a copy. Remem-ber, a request is simply that: a request. We will do our best to accommodate everyone. Questions? Ask for Suzie.

PRACTICAL TIPS TO PREPARE FOR YOUR
CHILD’S BAPTISM
1. Register in the Baptismal Preparation class early in your pregnancy.
2. Prayerfully study the Baptism ceremony and its rich symbols.
3. Choose Godparents who will be real and long lasting help in the Christian formation of your child. Notify them in advance that they will need to take the Baptismal Prepa-ration class too. They are meant to be more than honorary sponsors.
4. Encourage relatives and friends to be pre-sent for the Baptism (not just the party).
5. Set aside the sym-bols from your child’s Baptism (candle, white gar-ment, Baptismal cer-tificate, pictures) and keep them as reminders of the ongoing im-portance of the event.

Padre Hai
