INTRODUCING LENT Lent is a time for us all to reflect on our lives and our
relationship with God. During this period which begins next
Wednesday with Ash Wednesday, we give up something. We
challenge ourselves to change something in our daily lives so
that we can become as close to God and to one another as
possible.
This Lent could we ask God to think less of ourselves and more
what we can do for others. In a special way could we become
less and allow Him - Jesus - to become great. Allow Him to
become central to our lives. Could we in a special way give
time to prayer. If we have become careless by given up our
week-end Mass could we make a special effort to come back
and encourage others to do the same. He must be especially
calling us at this time. Could we remind ourselves how special
family prayer is. A family that prays together stays together.
Don’t let the opportunity pass us by during Lent to rediscover a
special relationship with God and others.
AN INVITATION TO RECONNECT
FAITH - SERVICE - MERCY
We all have a lot to be thankful for. Life itself is precious and it
is ours to make of it what we want. We need God’s help. We
need to be generous with our time. We need to rediscover
Mercy and Compassion in our personal lives. To help us create
a personal space in our lives we are setting aside an evening of
Reflection and Nourishment for our own Faith.
We are inviting all existing Readers of the Word at Mass,
Eucharistic Ministers and new members. This will take place
on Wednesday February 17th in the Church, Sixmilebridge at
7.30 p.m.
The following Wednesday we have a Training night in the
Church Sixmilebridge at 7.30 p.m for people who have
volunteered to become readers or Eucharistic Members.
Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Ashes will be Blessed and distributed at Masses in Kilmurry at 10.00 a.m. and in Sixmilebridge at 7.00 p.m.
Thursday next 11th February is the
Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes
and is World Day of Prayer
for the Sick.
Our Lady of Lourdes Pray for us.
St. Bernadette Pray for us.
