POSTMODERN IN TRANSLAT ION

This projectwhichbegan as a symposium that aimed to castlightontheinternationalinfluencesonAustralianarchitectureand urbanism of the late 20th century. In particular, itfocussed on the exchanges between Italian and Australianarchitecture, through the analysis of buildings, projects andcompetition entries and the investigation of theoreticalproductioninItalyorlinkedtoItalianarchitecturalculture.Theproject challenged the idea of a unique understanding ofpostmodern architecture in Australia architecture, with thesymposiumstrivingtoshowhowdifferentresponsesemergedfromtheidiosyncraticarchitecturaldialoguebetweenItalyandAustralia. In addition, from this symposium a forthcomingbookisdueforreleaseinlate2017. OutcomesandRelatedPublications:Forthcoming

A forthcoming book featuring a series of papers surroundingthe issues covered throughout the symposium is set to bepublishedinlate2017.ThebookissettobepublishedbyUROMelbourne and titled, Italy/Australia: Postmodernism inTranslation.

Symposium/ConferenceA symposium was held in November of 2015 at the University of Canberra. Dr Silvia Micheli chaired thesymposium whilst the keynote speaker was Léa-Catherine Szacka (Aho, Norway and ATCH Visiting Fellow2015).
