Mr.Nargeoletisadeep-seadiverwhohasvisitedthewrecksitemorethan30 times! For the last two-and-a-half decades, he has worked for RMSTitanic, Inc.,whichisthesole legalsteward,conservator,andcuratorofthewrecksite.Nargeolet-ledteamshaveexcavatedmorethan5,000artifactsfromthewrecksite,pieceswhichformthecoreofawardwinningTitanicexhibitions,including shavingkits, toys, pipes, crystaldecanters, a chandelier fromanon-shiprestaurantand,yes,evensomedeckchairs.

In his pre-Titanic career, hewas a Commander in the French Navy, adiver, and a UDT/EOT team captain, working on mine-hunter shipsremovingexplosives.Afterthenavy,heworkedfortheFrenchInstituteforResearchandExploitationoftheSea,wherehewasaskedtobeinchargeoftheTitanicexpedition.Itwasin1987,onboardoftheFrenchsubmersible “Nautile” that he first saw the submerged ship. “Asweapproached the bow, we all went silent. There was absolutely nosoundinthesub. Iwasinawe.ButI feltsadnesstoo; Icouldalmostseethepeoplewalkinginthedeck.Ithoughtabouttheshipsinking,about those passengers.” Nargeolet believes that the sinking ofTitanicremainsacompellingstorybecauseitstillspeakstohumanfollyandpeopleofallwalksoflife.AfteryearsofcommutingacrosstheAtlantic,NargeoletdecidedtomovetobackcountryGreenwichpermanentlyin2001buthenow
