Breezway has been designing and manufacturing louvre windows from its Brisbane base since around 1935.
Breezway History
At Breezway we believe buildings should be designed to work with nature, rather than sealing up and fighting against it.
Energy Efficiency • Increased energy efficiency, health and productivity of building occupants.
• Reduced need for air conditioning to keep the room comfortable, saving electricity and the running costs of a building.
• Tight sealing due to the living hinge design that resists water and air penetration between the clips and channels.
• Low U-values required for energy efficiency compliance/excellence (ranging from 3.6 to 6.9).
• Appropriate U-values and ventilation for all climate zones.
E.g. In extremely cold climates, louvre-fixed lite combinations are a way to achieve good ventilation and very low U-values. Altair Louvres with metal mesh screens have WERS ratings available which significantly reduce the window’s U-value as the glass blades and the screen act in a similar way to double glazing.
• Solar Heat Gain Coefficient between 0.2 and 0.72 using glass blades
E.g. Tinted Low-E blades help reduce solar heat gain and provide comparable insulation to double glazing. Timber or aluminium blades also reduce solar heat gain by blocking out sunlight while still allowing maximum ventilation through the window.

The R&D team facilities include an on-site NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) approved testing laboratory allowing new products to be tested and refined before being launched. Altair® Louvre Windows fitted with stainless steel mesh screens have passed bushfire testing (AS 1530.8.1-2007) to BAL-29 conditions at the CSIRO
Bushfire Prone Areas
Clauses 3.9.2.5 and D2.24 of the Building Code of Australia detail the situations in which openable windows require fall prevention measures and the requirements that windows in these situations must meet.
Fall Prevention
Altair Louvre successfully passed testing therefore do not require bushfire shutters at BAL-29 to comply with the Australian Standard that governs windows used in bushfire prone areas of Australia (AS3959-2009).
Altair Louvres have also passed BAL-40 testing if used in an Alspec frame fitted with Invisi-Guard stainless steel mesh screens.
The following Altair Louvre Window configurations have passed testing to the Australian Window Association’s industry code of practice”ICP.005 - Protection of Openable Window Testing Specification and complies with AS5203 – 2016.
A 152mm Altair Louvre Window with the Stronghold System, toughened glass or aluminium blades a maximum of 900mm long and all blade openings restricted to 100mm will comply with Clauses 3.9.2.5(b)(i)(A) and D2.24(b)(i)(A).
A 102mm Altair Louvre Window with the Stronghold System, toughened glass blades a maximum of 750mm long and all blade openingsrestricted to 80mm will comply with Clauses 3.9.2.5(b)(i)(A) and D2.24(b)(i)(A).
A 102mm Altair Louvre Window with the Stronghold System, toughened glass blades a maximum of 707mm long will comply with Clauses 3.9.2.5(b)(i)(A) and D2.24(b)(i)(A).
