ACTIVITIES REPORT 2018- 2019
1. Entrepreneurial Skill Development Training Programme
Department of Commerce has organised an Entrepreneurship Skill
Development Training Programme (Food Processing –preparation of squash and
jam) at the residence of Iyyani Soman, Nattika on 06/07/2018 (Friday) from 1.00
pm to 4.30 pm as an extension programme. 45 kudumbasree members and 15 E
D club members participated in the programme. The programme was formally
inaugurated by Smt. Prabha V R, Ward member. Welcome speech was delivered
by Head of the department of Commerce Smt. Anila Balan. Principal Dr. Reena
Ravindran presided the programme. Smt. Praveena Vijayan, E D Club Co-
ordinator delivered the felicitation speech.
Smt. DevikaMohanan, Faculty of Food Processing, Annamanada was the
resource person. A Class on preparation of squash and mixed fruit jam was
undertaken. She discussed about the materials required, the quantity of each
material required and showed the method of preparation . The programme came
to an end with vote of thanks Smt. A S Priyanka, Assistant professor of
Commerce.
2. “H@rvesto 2018” – EXHIBITION REPORT
Teaching Learning Process and Extension Programme
An Exhibition cum Festival sale “H@rvesto 2018” has been arranged by
the Department of Commerce in the campus on 8th August 2018. Department
aims this programme as an extension programme and also a teaching learning
method for the department. Through this programme department provides an
opportunity for young entrepreneurs to exhibit their products and also provide the
students to learn how to manage a small business stalls. The exhibition is open to
all students of our nearby institutions and to the general public.
The Exhibition was inaugurated by Smt. Prabha V.R., Fifth ward member
of Nattika Grama Panchayath. Along with our students‟ stall, Co-optex Thrissur,
Cheeroos Collections Thriprayar, Green Magic Garden Thriprayar, Kerala Khadi
and Village Industries Perugottukara etc. were also participated inthis festival
sale.
Along with the stalls of students, the rest of the stalls were controlled and
managed by our students. Stocks were collected and their sales were managed by
commerce students. Students have got an opportunity to learn how to manage
small business units. Painting exhibition of our students was also a highlight of
our exhibition.
3. Class PTAs :
Class PTAs of Vth and IIIrdsem B.Com was held on 19/09/2018.
4. Orientation programmes :
1.A career guidance class about CA,CMA& ACCA for III rd year B.Com students
by Lakshya Institute.
2.Invester Education Programme by Lotus Knowlwealth company, Mumbai on
behalf of BSE-IPL for B,Com and M.Com students.
3.Career guidance programme in professional courses in commerce by Logic
Management school ,Kochi.
4.Career Planning session: Career opportunities after B.Com with focus on
MBA,CA,CMA, & CS by IMS Learning Centre Thrissur.
5. Career orientation programme for CMA by CMA Campus ,Thrissur.
6.Career Guidance class for final year B.Com students by EASA college of
Engineering & Technology.
5. Faculties Participation:
1. Anila Balan attended short term course in Disaster Management atASC,
Kerala University from 18/07/2018 to 25/07/2018.
2. Anila Balan attended a 4day workshop on Innovative software packages in
social science Research at Govt Victoria College, Palakkad 12/08/2018 to
15/08/2018.

6. Ranjini R Varma participated in Two Day International Seminar on
“Entrepreneurship & Innovations: Dreaming, Scanning & Discovering
New Horizons” Organised by PG Department of Commerce
&Management Studies, Sri. C Achutha Menon Government College,
Kuttenellur.
7. Ranjini R Varma attended One Day National Workshop on Moodle held

8. SEMINAR SERIES PARAMPARA Nattika College Department of commerce of Sree Narayana conducted one
day seminar on “ Need for Decentralised Disaster Preparedness Plans In Kerala”
as a part of the seminar series “ Parampara 2018” based on the topic of the year
“after the Deluge on 6/12/2018.
The venue of the seminar was “old library hall” of Sree Narayana College
Nattika. Seminar began with a prayer. Welcome speech was delivered by HOD of
commerce department Smt. Anila Balan. Seminar was inaugurated by one
Principal Dr. Reena Ravindran Mam.
Chief Guest of the Seminar was Dr.S.Sreekumar, Director of Integrated
Rural Technology Centre. Resource person shared his experience with the
students about the disaster incurred by Kerala during August 15, 16, 17. He
reminded us about the possible disaster that is to be expected by Kerala especially
landslides, earthquake and thunder lightening. Causes of such natural disaster and
measures to prevent such disaster were discussed in seminar. At the end students
and teachers raised questions that made the seminar interactive. Vote of thanks
was delivered by Smt. Praveena Vijayan (Assistant Professor of department of
commerce) and came to an end by 1 0‟ clock.
Afternoon we had the power point competition of students of commerce
department related to the topic. Two students from each class did the presentation.

post flood.

9.Commerce Association Inauguration
Association Inauguration
The inaugural programme of the commerce association was held
on 12th
December 2018.The inaugurator and chief guest of the function
was Smt.SreedeviKesavan( Director ,Process Prohub Ltd ,Ernakulam )
has spoken about the need to involve in a various small entrepreneurial
activities and the importance to become jod providers rather than job
seekers. Principal of the college Dr.Reena Ravindran made the presidential
address and Smt.Anila Balan,HOD commerce given the welcome speech.
Felicitationswere given by Smt.Praveena Vijayan (Assistant Professor
CommerceDepartment),Ramdas.M(Chairman Ernesto College Union
2018),Dr.Jaya P.S(IQAC Cordinator).Proposal Presentation was delivered
by Devikasuresh,Ist year B.com student. Commerce Association Secretary
Ramkumar.C.D made the Vote of thanks.
In the afternoon students cultural programmes
being conducted .
10.WednesdayBazar
We have organised Wednesday bazar as a platform for
selling homely made vegetables and products of students at college level .
Students from all departments can participated in the bazar. Ms. Deepa .V ,
Assistant Professor in commerce is the co-ordinator of the Programme. The
Programme was inaugurated by Our Principal Dr. Reena Ravindran by
buying the item.
11.ONE DAY WORKSHOPON RESAERCH METHODOLOGY
The Post graduate department of commerce organised a one day workshop on
“DATA ANALYSIS TOOLS”. The resource person was Dr.Mugesh P [M.Com,
PhD] Head of the department in Allied College of Management Studies,
Ottapalam, provided a one day workshop on the topic “DATA ANALYSIS
TOOLS” on 24th
January 2019.Session was conducted for PG and UG final year
students of commerce department. Practical session regarding application of
statistical tools in project analysis was the highlight of the workshop. The
workshop helped the final year students in doing their project report. The entire
programme was co-ordinated with the support of the Principal, HOD and other
faculties of the department of commerce, Sree Narayana College, Nattika.
12.Tourism day celebration

The departmrnt of Commerce of Sree Narayana College
Nattika,Thrisssur has conducted an inter departmental powerpoint presentation
contest on the title „Exploring the unexplored Thrissivaperoor‟ along with
publishing of tourist catalogue in accordance with national tourism day on 25th
January 2019.The programme was started at 2pm in the afternoon with the
prayer.Smt.Praveena Vijayan HOD in charge,Dept.of Commerce welcomed
everyone to the programme.The presidential address was delivered by the
honourable principal Smt.Reena Ravindran. Dr.Jaya P.S, IQAC has given
felicitation.
Mr.BillyamillHalliru,Phd scholar,University of Mannuthy from
Nigeria and 4 teams from our college were also participated.The tourist
catalogue was published by the chief guest Mr.BillyamillHalliru,Zoology
and Chemistry shared the first prize.The prize was distributed by the chief
guest.Vote of thanks was delvered by Bismitha M.S ,Ist year M.com.The
programme came to an end at 3.30 pm with the National anthem.The chief
guest was given a gift as a token of love from the Department of
Commerce.
13.Study Tour (B.com)
We have organised study tour to B.Com Students to
Chikkamanglore from 18/01/2018 to 20/12/2018. 38 students from the final
year class were participated in the tour. Students were accompanied by Ms
A.S. Priyanka , Assistant Professor in Commerce and Mr. P. Sreenivasan
from College Office.
14.B.Com Industrial Visit Report
Industrial visit
An industrial visit to Industrial Estate Athani Thrissur was arranged for the
members of E D Club on 27/07/2018, Friday. 60 members along with 2
faculty members visited two industries in the Estate. The administrative
section of Industrial estate arranged the visit with the Co-ordination of Mrs.
Lino George, Thalikulam Industrial Officer. The members visited Elite
groups Yamuna Roller Flour Mills (P) Ltd., and a Plastic cover
manufacturing unit.
The students of our department were able to understand about the the various
mechanical process undertaken in the two industries they visited, the
administrative works, and the employment opportunities provided by these
industries.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT REPORT
P.G department of Commerce organised an industrial visit to Ooty
HOOMEWOOD TEA FACTORY on 9/02/2019.Twenty M.Com students and two
faculties visited the tea factory which is situated amid the blue hills of Nilgiri and
is located at a distance of around 4 km from the city centre. Visitors can learn
about the origin of different kinds of tea leaves that are used across the globe
along with the history of tea in India and its evolution in the Niligiris.
Visitors can see the entire processing method right from the
freshly plucked green leaves to its packaging. The tea factory is popular for its
homemade chocolate too like fruit and nuts, fig and honey, roasted almonds and
many other varieties.
It is marketed by the dodabetta tea trader,
coonor,Tamilnadu.Prices of the tea varies with respect to the flavours chosen .they
also provides tea trough courier with charge of Rs.40 per kg with in the state and
Rs 60 per kg in others.
After the tea factory visit, we also visited the nearby places
which are famous tourist spots which include rose garden, botanical garden, ooty
boat house etc.
