PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Hello Fellow Lions, it is this Time of Year Again. What a
tremendous year and Great Events that all Committee
Chairs and their Committee members respectively have
supported in the Lion Cause.
In November we had the highest turnout to the Joint Zone
Meeting held in Maple. Thank You to Lions Ken Drynan,
George McKelvey, Dick Peel, Fred Sheehy, Mike Hiatt, Ron
Chambers, Jack McBride, Dave Galloway, Mandy Galloway,
Grace Medland, Claire Quesnel, Jim Doak, and the other
Lion Members who attended. It was a Great Meeting — Good Food and Good
meeting the other Lion Members from the different Lion Clubs with our Governor
Barry Tate opening the meeting with his inspirational speech and chaired by Lion
Gobin. A job well done

Oak Brook, Illinois, USA, November 12, 2009 – Lions formally dedicated
Peng Hua Lions Village in Sichuan Province, China. A total of 80 homes
were handed over to families during a ceremony attended by LCIF
Chairperson Al Brandel and his wife Dr. Maureen Murphy, Second Vice
President Dr. Wing-Kun Tam, nearly 50 Lions clubs members from
throughout China and Hong Kong & Macau, and the local vice mayor,
other local dignitaries. The dedication marks 1.5 years since the earth-
quake and is part of a two-phase project to construct more than 150
homes.
Free the Children Holiday Run is a tradition at Markham District High
School. On Tuesday, December 15th we will be having our 8th annual
Free the Children Holiday Run. Students from Markham District High
School as well as our feeder schools will be participating, by collecting
pledges prior to the day of the event. On December 15th they will run 5
km to raise awareness against children exploitation, poverty, and illiter-
acy. This day will bring hope to children, and take a step to provide edu-
cation for children, and change the lives of many.

Festivities starts at 9:30 a.m.
In parts of the world, Santa arrives by sleigh, slides down chimneys or
walks through front doors. But for people living in small island communi-
ties in the Pacific Northwest, access to the mainland is limited – and chil-
dren rarely have the chance to visit Santa.
Lions clubs in the Pacific Northwest saw the need, and wanted to do
something to make the holidays happier. "The kids on the islands didn't
have transportation to and from the big cities," according to Don Wight
of the Bellingham Lions Club. "One of the islands asked if a boat that had
lights on it could possibly come out to the islands with candy and toys
for the kids."
That marked the beginning of the Christmas Ship. Every December for
the past 60 years, Santa has suited up and stepped off the Christmas Ship
to bring gifts and joy to people living in remote islands off the coast of
Bellingham, Washington in the United States and British Colombia, Can-
ada.

THE ROVING EYE PART ONE
Dan was a single guy living at home with his father
and working in the family business.
When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune
when his sickly father died, he decided he needed to
find a wife with whom to share his fortune.
One evening, at an investment meeting, he spotted
the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her
natural beauty took his breath away.
"I may look like just an ordinary guy," he said to her,
"but in just a few years, my father will die and I will
inherit $200 million."
Impressed, the woman asked for his business card
and three days later, she became his stepmother.

THE LIGHTER SIDE
Three vampires walk into a bar and
sit down at a table. The waitress
comes over and asks the first vam-
pire what he would like. The first
vampire responds, "I vould like some
blood."
The waitress turns to the second
vampire and asks what he would like.
The vampire responds, "I vould like
some blood."
The waitress turns to the third vam-
pire and asks what he would like.
The vampire responds, "I vould like
some plasma."
The waitress looks up and says, "Let
me see if I have this order correct.
You want two bloods and a blood
light?"
"How was your golf game, dear?"
asked Jack's wife.
"Well I was hitting it pretty well, but
my eyesight's gotten so bad I could-
n't see where the ball went."
"Well you're 75 years old now, Jack,
why don't you take my brother Scott
along?" suggested his wife.
"But he's 85 and doesn't even play
golf anymore," protested Jack.
"But he's got perfect eyesight. He
could watch your ball," his wife
pointed out.
The next day Jack teed off with Scott
looking on. Jack swung, and the ball
disappeared down the middle of the
fairway. "Did you see it?" asked Jack.
"Yup," Scott answered.
"Well, where is it?" yelled Jack, peer-
ing off into the distance.
"I forget."
The teenage granddaughter comes
downstairs for her date with this see
-through blouse on and no bra. Her
grandmother just has a fit, telling her
not to dare go out like that.
The teenager tells her "Loosen up
Grams. These are modern times.
You gotta let your rosebuds show!"
and out she goes.
The next day the teenager comes
downstairs, and the grandmother is
sitting there with no top on. The
teenager wants to die.
She explains to her grandmother
that she has friends coming over and
that it is just not appropriate.
"Loosen up, sweetie. If you can show
off your rosebuds, then I can display
my hanging baskets."
An old woman is riding in an eleva-
tor in a very lavish New York City
Building, when a young and beautiful
woman gets into the elevator, smell-
ing of expensive perfume. She turns
to the old woman and says arro-
gantly, "Romance" by Ralph Lauren,
$150 an ounce!"
Then another young and beautiful
woman gets on the elevator, and
also very arrogantly turns to the old
woman saying, "Chanel No. 5, $200
an ounce!"
About three floors later, the old
woman has reached her destination
and is about to get off the elevator.
Before she leaves, she looks both
beautiful women in the eye, then
bends over, farts and says...
"Broccoli. 49 cents a pound!"
A guy took his girlfriend to her first
football game. Afterward he asked
her how she like the game.
'I liked it, but I couldn't understand
why they were killing each other for
25 cents,' she said.
'What do you mean?' he asked.
'Well, everyone kept yelling, 'Get the
quarter back!
Christmas is the time when people
put so many bulbs on the outside of
their houses, you don't know if
they're celebrating the birth of Jesus
or General Electric.
Christmas in Los Angeles is always
interesting. Seeing carolers dressed
in Bermuda shorts...groping their
way through the smog singing: "It
came upon a midnight clear."
Did you hear about the Beverly Hills
school Christmas pageant? Two kids
dressed as Mary and Joseph and they
are on their way to the inn in Bethle-
hem. On the other side of the stage,
a boy in a shepherd's outfit is on a
cell phone, calling for reservations.
Q: What do the reindeer sing to
Father Christmas on his birthday?
A: Freeze a jolly good fellow!
Father Christmas won a saucepan in
a competition.
