propsuggestions.AmericanandFrenchhigh-rankingofficersoftenworebluemilitaryjackets,andBritishofficersoftenworeredjackets.ManyAmericansoldierssimplyworetheirownclothing–typicalcolonialattireorevenhuntingtunics.

§ Studentswithgreencards(expertwords)shouldhaveacostumethatfitstheirblueoryellowcardroleORwhichfitstheirbattlescenerole.Typicalcolonialattirewouldalsobeappropriate.

§ StudentswithyellowcardsaremembersoftheContinentalCongressandshoulddresslikerichcolonialmen.

Extrateampointsareawardedforappropriatepropsandcostumes,soeverychildshouldhaveacostume,butcostumesdonotneedtobeelaborate.Costumescanusuallybepulledtogetherfromitemsalreadyfoundinthehomecloset.Herearesomeideas:

Awhitedressshirtwithafrillycollaroralongstripofwhiteneckclothtiedinthestyleoftheday.Studentscanpickupaninstructionsheetintheclassroomwhichexplainshowtotiethetie.

Pantsrolleduporcutjustbelowtheknee–Whitebaseballpantsandfootballpantsworkgreat.Regulardark-coloredpantscanberolledupandtiedwithatietolookauthentic.

Longwhitesocksuptotheknee.

Ablackorbluejacketorvest–Thejacketcanbeplainordressedupwithbraidifthelookofauniformisdesired.Blackornavyvestslookauthentic.Ladies’jacketstendtofitthisageperfectly.

Blackshoeswithaluminumfoilsilverbuckles–Attachthefoilbuckletoregularshoeswithahairpin.Studentscanpickupthecardboard/aluminumfoilpatternintheclassroom.

TherewillNOTbetimeforacostumechangeinthemiddleoftheplay.GirlsinskirtsCANweartheirskirtcostumesduringthebattlescene.
