Why this program?The Purchasing Manager is a major player of theExecutive Team and a privileged discussion partnerin the Supply Chain. No business player can ignorethe Supply Chain to which his organization belongs.Neither can he overlook the challenges facing hisoperations and the value of a close collaborationwith his suppliers and contracted partners.
The Purchasing Manager makes sure that the qualityof exchange and cooperation with suppliers providesa key of competitiveness to his own organization.Relationships with suppliers aim at a win-win result,which requires a constant search for common valuecreation.
Sourcing, purchasing and procurement require global access and use of sophisticated informationand communication systems. Today, purchasingperformances can be greatly impacted by the use of internet.
The Purchasing Manager must be able to demons-trate a capability to marry strategic and tacticaldecisions, in a turbulent world of uncertainty.Because of the complexity of his job, he needs toacquire and master technical, managerial andbehavioral competences with the required depthand -more important?- width.
For such purposes, and to respond to this deman-ding context, the program was created to provide a global, up-to-date expertise in the strategicmanagement of Purchasing.
ObjectivesThe learning objectives of this program are : • Design a purchasing strategy, based upon criteriasuch as value creation ;
• Justify and document choices such as "make orbuy", market segmentation, purchasing portfoliodefinition, etc. ;
• Implement the purchasing strategy and determineorganization processes, rules, contracts, e-solutions, for instances ;
• Set up measures of the purchasing performances.

Certification :• Participants who attended regularly the programand completed successfully the final applicationassignment and presentation will be granted the«ABCAL Certificate of Strategic PurchasingManagement».
• The program has been designed so that it reflectsthe new Supply Chain standards of the EuropeanLogistics Association.
Location : Unless organized on site, the location of the lectures is CEI 2 (ABCAL Office), 6, rue Louis De Geer, B-1348 Louvain-la-Neuve.
Language of the program:English; participants are expected to master theEnglish language.
Registering and program fee :• The applications will be examined by a jury on thebasis of background, experience and motivation.
• The program fee amounts to 3200 Euros (2900 Euros for members of ABCAL, Agoria, LiW)and includes tuition, pedagogic material, coursefacilities, lunches and coffee breaks.
• In case of withdrawal before the start of the trai-ning, an indemnity of 10% will be required. Afterthe start, no more remboursement will be possible.
