CAPE MAY LONG CRUISE PROPOSAL
• Would travel by way of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal
• Would take thirteen days, In Chesapeake City, MD the skippers and any crew interested would change-out.
• Would have many ports of call, with full days in Cape May, Baltimore, and Wye Island

First Day
• Transit to Patuxent river. • Spend night on anchor• Long day, extending until 2230• Distance could be offset by
prepositioning the Runner in Colonial Beach

Second Day
• Short jaunt up the Bay to Annapolis
• Relatively short day, extending only to 1800
• Prevailing winds should make it a pleasant run up the Bay

ANNAPOLIS
• Historic Seaport• One of the sailing capitals of the world• Lots of great restaurants, beautiful harbour,
and wonderful views and atmosphere• State capital of Maryland

Third Day
• Relaxed day, extending until 2045• Tied up at Summit Pointe marina• Begin, but do not complete, our
transit of the Chesapeake & Delaware canal

Fourth Day
• Relaxed day, anchoring outside of the Cape May canal
• Transiting down both the Delaware River and the Delaware Bay

Fifth Day
• A short transit down the Cape May canal to tie up at a marina in the Cape May Basin
• After arriving at a marina at 0900, the rest of the day is spent on the beaches of Cape May

CAPE MAY

• Many miles of pristine beaches• Has a boardwalk lined with shops
and homes• Large concentration of Victorian-
style buildings• One of the biggest beach
destinations on the East Coast

Sixth Day
• Transit back up the Delaware bay and river and enter the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal
• Arrive in Chesapeake City at 2300• Skippers and any crew interested would swap-out this night
or the next morning• Transiting the canal at night will not be an issue, because as
seen in the picture below, it is well marked and illuminated

CHESAPEAKE CITY
• We will have breakfast in Chesapeake City as well as re-provision the vessel on the morning of the seventh day, departing at 0900
• Beautiful city with great restaurants located directly alongside the canal

Seventh Day
• Transit down the Bay and up the Patapsco River to Fell’s Point Baltimore
• Relaxing 12 hour sail, ending at 2100
• Very picturesque transit

FELL’S POINT
• Beautiful and historic borough of Baltimore• Home of the greatest burger that has ever and will
ever exist on the face of this planet• Can take the relatively inexpensive water taxi to such
places as the Inner Harbor, Fort McHenry, or Canton’s waterfront
• Spend the entire eighth day here

Ninth Day
• Sail down the Bay to then enter Eastern Bay and the Wye River, stopping to anchor for the night in one of the many coves that dot Wye Island’s shore
• Relaxing sail, ending at 1900

WYE ISLAND
• Spend the entire tenth day here• 2,450 of the island’s 2,800 acres are open public land• Deep water right up to the shore, with plenty of deep
coves and creeks• Undeveloped and mostly grassland

Eleventh Day
• Sail down the bay to Solomon’s Island in the Patuxent River
• Arrive at 1930 and either tie up or anchor

Twelfth Day
• Sail from Solomon’s Island down the Bay and up the Potomac to either Breton or St. Clement’s Bay
• Gives a relaxing last night, arriving at our anchorage at 1900
• Allows for time to organize the Runner on the last day

• Final day• Quick jaunt to Dahlgren, arriving
at 1130• Clean and offload the boat
